3 Famous People from Liverpool

 By: Thomas Bruhl
By far the city of Liverpool is one of the top tourist destinations in Britain and to no surprise. With so many innovations and inventions coming out from the city, hundreds of great tourists attractions to see, the city is just ideal for any visitor.

And then there are the people. Liverpool is the birth place and home to some of the most notable people in the UK. From great musicians, actors and artists to inventors and scientists, the city gave birth to them all. In this article I decided to present my favorite top three of the most notable people from Liverpool.

John Lennon - naturally it is hard to think of Liverpool without thinking of the Beatles. This famous music group has clearly revolutionized the music world during their 8 years of recording history. John Lennon was one of the founding members of the band. He was born in October 1940 during the famous World War II air raids on Liverpool he grew up with his aunt after his mother gave him away. He formed the Beatles with his best friend, Paul McCartney and the two became one of the most successful songwriting partnerships in history. He had a huge interest in politics and many of his actions became symbols for people fighting for their rights. His anti war activism became an example for many and many of his songs were used during the Vietnam War protests. John Lennon was murdered in 1980 outside of his New York apartment. 22 years later he was posthumously voted 8th most influential Briton ever.

Frank Hornby - a person without whom the world of toys as we know it today would most likely didn't exist at all. Frank was a simple bookkeepper who started building toys for his sons and in time grew to became an inventor of interchangeable toy parts which led him to the creation of Meccano and Hornby train sets. This invention turned him a millionaire and led to his successful, yet short political career.

Tom Baker - if you are a Dr. Who fan they you definitely know Tom Baker, who is the most famous actor playing that figure. He portrayed Dr. Who from 1974 to 1981 although the story of his life is even more fascinating. He left school at the age of 15 to become a Monk, however, left the monastery 6 years later, after losing his faith. He joined the army, where he took up acting as a hobby. This eventually led to his role as the famoust doctor and many other notable appearances.

I did a Google search and came across your site. It was exactly what I was looking for and was elated to find such a broad range of articles. As I am launching a free magazine in a small town in Florida, I wanted to be as resourceful as possible while still being able to provide some content that is interesting and well written. Your site has all the variables in the mix. Excellent Site hitting all the notes in the scale sort of speak.
