Now, lets get stuck in.

First, we need to be able to see exactly where our ads are being placed. We need to be able to do this to be able to eliminate the websites that we don’t want to use.

Adwords Secret Report:

1 - Select the ‘reports’ tab from the top navigation.

2 - Select ‘Create a new report’.

3 - Create your report. Lets take a look in detail at how this is done.

Report:
Choose the ‘Placement Performance’ from the list. By selecting this option, step 2-4 will become unique to the ‘Placement Performance’ category.

Settings:
Level of Detail:
Adwords allow you to choose from three sections - Ad Group, Campaign and Account. If you select Account, then the report will run for everything within your account. This is to generic, and should hardly be used. For the most targeted option, select Ad groups. This option allows you to target specific Adgroups within your account.

Note: for the best results, you must separate your content network and search network in to different adgroups. This will give you complete control over the performance of your content network.

Domain URL:
Adwords gives you the option of URL and Domain. URL will give you the exact URL the your ad was placed on, e.g - www.secrets4adwords.com/about-jeff-spires.php Where as Domain will only give you the overall domain name. E.G - www.secrets4adwords.com

For the best results I always choose URL. As this gives me an exact representation of what is happening.

View (Unit of Time):
Simply, add the unit of time that you want to run your reports. I normally set this to
‘Daily’. But this will be determined by how you want to run your own campaign.

Date Range:
Select the date range that you want to view.

Campaigns and Ad Groups:
This is where it starts getting good. Adwords allows you to select whether you want to run the report for everything associated under the umbrella of the ‘Level of Detail (selected earlier)’. Or, even better than that, you have the option of selecting the exact campaign or Adgroup that you want to focus on. Once again, this depends on what option you selected within the ‘Level of Detail’ drop down menu. This is a great way of getting really targeted with your stat tracking.

Advanced Settings (Optional)

Add or Remove Columns:

This section basically allows you to select which areas of your Adwords campaign you want to view within the report. Just check the columns that you want to use and deselect the columns that you don’t want to use.

However, the default options are normally good enough.

Filter Your Results:

This is a great feature that allows you to filter your results. Each filter basically is an option of how you want your results to be displayed. E.G - If you only want to show all results that have a CTR 1% or above, you can easily do this here.

Here is a list of the following criteria:
Search Query
Ad Distribution
Ad Group Status
Campaign Status
Impressions
Clicks
CTR
Avg CPC
Cost
Avg Position

Google also allows you to select more than one filter, which means that you can have multiple filters per report. Simple click on ‘Add Another Restriction’ to add an additional filter.

Templates, Scheduling and Email

Name Your Report:
Just name the report whatever you want.

Template:
If you would like to save this as as new template then check the check box. A new template basically means that you can use this report to create another report of the back of it. E.G, you want to run the exact report but with one section different.

This can be very handy for quickly creating new reports.

Scheduling:
Adwords report Scheduling allows you to decide how often you want your new report to run. If you decide to check this option, then Adwords will give you three options - Every Day, Every Monday, First Day of Every Month. Once again, this allows you to create an even more targeted report.

Email:
For all of you who are busy and on the road a lot. why not get this report sent direct to your inbox. This feature for me is a must. I run so many campaign, the more automated it is, the better. Simply by checking this one check box will save you having to keep coming into account and search for the report. Adwords also give you the option of attaching the report to your email as a .xml, .cvs, .csv(for excel), .tsv and .html file type. Yet another great feature from the Adwords guys.

Once your doe, just click on to the ‘Create Report’ button at the bottom right had corner of the page, and your done.

Ok, we now have our report running. To view you report, just select the ‘Reports’ tab from the top of the Adwords campaign. Adwords allows you to either select the report, or edit the report that you have just created.

So there you have it. yet another one of the Adwords Secrets Reveled. This truly is on of those great ways of running an Adwords account on steroids. So don’t pass this up.
