Article directories have established themselves as important tools for webmasters all over the world. Good web site owners acknowledge the potential that article writing has and they are continuously trying to get the best of what this strategy can do.

Your web site is the one that makes your sales, so you need to find a way to attract as many visitors as possible to it. One form of advertising yourself is submitting articles to article directories. There are some very good article directories out there, and many of them have a pretty high page rank. Furthermore, if your articles are decently written, you will have no problem in posting them on these directories.

One thing you need to do is to learn how to write good articles, or hire people to do it. Whatever you decide, your articles must be about your field of activity, the one that your web site is about. For example, if you own a site about fishing and sell fishing rods, there's no point in writing an article about basketball and sending it to article directories.

Nowadays, there are even good article submission software products available out there, which automate the process of submitting the articles. However, you must remember that you need to keep your number of articles sent/day frequency within reasonable limits.

Besides the good exposure that submitting your articles to article directories offers, you also have some other advantages. You can include a bio box in your articles, which will be displayed at the bottom of your articles. This will get you very useful back-links to your site, which will be converted into visitors.

Then, if another webmaster wants to use one of your articles as content for his, it gets even better. Just don't forget to remind him that he has to keep the back-link to your site. In this case, you get even more one way links to your site, which is a very desirable thing SEO-wise.

In the end, the more effort you decide to put into this, the better the results will be. The advantages are many, from the confidence you gain from the readers to the good SEO strategy that article writing is. And remember, article writing is here to stay for a pretty long time. Otherwise, the big number of good article directories would have no point, would it?
