Bangladesh Failed To Stand Against Sri Lanka

 By: Peri Witny
Although Sri Lanka set a quite big total of 520 for Bengal tigers to chase in the first match but the way Bangladesh carried on its struggle against strong bowling line of Sri Lanka was remarkable and they reached very near to target but unfortunately could not win the match.

Bangladesh made records runs in 2nd innings of the 1st test match and made public stunned with their performance. While in 2nd test, Bengal tiger could not perform with consistency and could not revise their previous match performance.

It was 59th test match of Bangladesh and out of these 59 tests matches it could only win one match since 2000. Sri Lanka achieved their biggest victory of 465 runs in 2nd test match against Bangladesh and won the series by 2-0. In 2nd and final test match T.Dilshan of Sri Lanka performed superb and helped his team to achieve one of the biggest victory in 182 matches which Sri Lanka played. Bangladesh is under high pressure for his test status because of continuous deaf in test cricket as it played 59 matches since 2000 and could win only one match.

On the 4th day of 2nd test match , Sri Lanka started its incomplete innings at 296 for 4 ,Samaraweera made only 5 runs and was out on a total of 77 runs. T.Dilshan played fabulous innings and made 143 runs and with this achievement ,he achieved another hallmark of making century in both innings of a test match and became 4th Sri Lankan player to achieve this mile stone. Kapugedera and Vass remained not out on 59 and 20 runs respectively. Sri Lanka declared the innings at 447 for 6 in 127 overs and set a target of 624 for Bangladesh to achieve.

Bengal Tigers were all out in 49.2 overs after making 158 runs. T. Dilshan created a lot of trouble with his magical bowling by taking 4 wickets for 10 runs only. Mendis also gave tough time to opposition and picked up 3 wickets for 57 runs and got overall 7 wicket in 2nd test match.

Bangladesh should develop a habit of performing well irrespective of winning or losing and they should do their best to achieve consistency in their performance which they shown in 1st test against Sri Lanka but could not keep that momentum in 2nd test.

Now, Bangladesh has to play one day internationals against Sri Lanka and then against Pakistan and they need to make hard effort to tackle these worlds strong cricket teams and should develop a habit of do or die.
