When we embark on our own heroic quest in life, each of us -- male and female alike -- must take both the heroâ€s and the heroineâ€s journeys. Why? Because they are each one-half of the soul journey to wholeness.

The heroic quest is a soul-inspired search to find and unite with the self. To succeed, we must discover both the male and the female within. We must also be able to express each of those sides of our being when appropriate. Few of us are able to do that very well.

When we take this journey we do so as personalities that are somewhat aligned with soul. As hero we use some of the Power aspect of soul, embarking upon a purpose that will serve a greater good. As heroine we use some of the Love aspect of soul to bring about right relationship and unity. The success of the quest results in intelligent activity, the Light aspect of soul. To the degree that weâ€re successful, we can then be a light for others. We can assist them in their quest by simply living our life with a different quality.

The heroâ€s journey gives us a sense of purpose. The hero is the male within us that must mentally and physically remove the obstacles in our journey. The most basic obstacle is that which keeps us separate from ourselves or from the goal. There are parts of us that do not know what our higher quest is all about. These parts are unconsciously projected outward. When we find them on our path we struggle against them. They are the dragons and monsters the hero must battle.

The heroineâ€s journey is what gives meaning to our life and experiences. The heroine is the female within us that must merge with the reality thatâ€s exposed when the obstacles are removed. The female energy must be venerated as the giver of life and the consumer of death. It must take us more fully into the relationships between life and death. This is the basis for inspiration, creativity, sacrifice and transformation.

We are to learn that it is not the female alone who gives life and the male alone who holds the forms in place. It is really the merging of the two that constantly creates. Together, they give and nurture life, transforming and growing the fruits of the union and dissolving them when their time is done. It is only when the two merge that soul and personality come together as one and consciousness unfolds.

Heroism means more boldness than conquest. The hero and heroine are heroic because they venture to an unknown land - not to defeat its occupants but instead to become one with them. We begin our heroic journey when we begin to discover the unity behind the apparent dualities of life, and perceive the underlying oneness that we all share. It continues as we dedicate ourselves on a daily basis to support and serve that unity.

The heroic quest is a reflection of the most fundamental urge within every human being - the urge to experience wholeness. To be a hero/heroine is to live in a soul-centered way.

There are principles and principalities in the world that continually tug at our senses. Even though people accept and reject these entities with little realization of their existence they can be detected and controlled. It is our desire to bring an awareness to people that much of what effects them can not only be controlled but used to their advantage.

What is a moment? How do we define such a place that we exist in momentarily and yet cannot really say that it is exists until it has happened. We cannot pin point it but yet we exist in it continuously. This now moment is the existence that is happening, it continues on in a line until we live out a sequence of moments that we then see and label as the past. The moments that are to come then are defined as the future.

Are you so busy doing, doing, doing that suddenly the hour, day, month, year is gone and everything seems like a blur? Have you ever asked, "Why am I here? There’s got to be more to life than this."

The work of Dan Millman is very powerful for assisting a person in transforming his or her life. In my work as a psychotherapist at the Holistic Addiction Treatment Program I introduce all of the clients to “The Way of the Peaceful Warrior” both as a book and as the movie. The movie and book are about a person who learns about never giving up and in the process begins a process of transforming his life. The process is about becoming present to that which he was not present to, to certain distinctions that once considered began to alter his life forever.

Family relationships have become strained to the breaking point by the many external forces that are exerted on them. While many fail those who survive are better equipage and stronger for it. While survival may breed the instinct to endure in the jungle, it's the survival instinct that separates winners from the weakness of failure.

Man struggles along the path of life with a heavy heart and bleeding feet only to find in the end the grave awaits. He harbors resentment, a sense of incompetence which besets his every avenue; and in his blind groping he lifts his hands in speechless anguish, and his weary cries stir the air with supplications to an apparently unheeding God. Where art thou oh Lord?
