Catering Tips For An Asian Party

 By: Jhon Cena
If you are planning to host an Asian themed party, there are a wide variety of things that you would need to organise, such as your guest list, your wardrobe, the venue, the food, the decorations, and a lot more. This requires a lot of work, and most people could do with a bit of help. Here is where an Indian catering company comes in handy. However, before you hire a caterer, it important to ask for references and read reviews, so that there are no unpleasant surprises on the day of your party.

Below are a few ideas to help you plan a suitable menu with your selected Asian caterers, while controlling costs and still creating a great party atmosphere:

- Party essentials: Think about the things that you simply 'must have' at your party. This may include certain cultural traditions like banana leaf plates, chopsticks or thalis.

- Choice of food: Think seasonal when it comes to food. Seasonal vegetables are usually the freshest, most flavourful, and usually the least expensive of all menu items. Also, keep in mind your personal choices, and the religious requirements of your guests, while deciding on the menu.

- Serve al fresco dishes. If you are holding a spring or summer party, you can include cool, fresh foods on the menu, to make your guests feel refreshed. Alternatively, you can organise a picnic-like party in a garden, to celebrate the beauty of the season, while saving on venue rental costs.

- Appetisers served on trays: Having a choice of appetisers like paneer tikka or chicken kababs, which are served on trays is usually more cost effective than keeping appetisers at food stations. They fill people up just as much, and allow guests to socialise and celebrate more comfortably.

- Comfort foods: Serving high calorie foods will keep your guests satisfied with relatively small portions, and also be easier on your wallet.

- Limited bar: Instead of having a full bar at your Asian wedding venue, you can choose to serve just one main drink (like beer, champagne or red wine), and a few cocktails. You may also decide to buy your own alcohol for the party, for which the Indian catering company may charge a small corkage fee.

- Edible centrepieces: Instead of using flowers for centrepieces, ask your Asian caterers to arrange seasonal fruits and vegetables in vases. Not only do they offer great colour, they are much cheaper than flowers, and are also edible.

- Subtle aromas: The addition of interesting aromas to Asian wedding venues can create a welcoming atmosphere, which your guests are sure to like. Some common Asian fragrances you can use are jasmine, marigold and sandalwood.
