Contact dermatitis is a condition that affects millions of people around the World. It starts the moment the skin comes in contact with certain substances; it may require only a small exposure (in the case of allergic contact dermatitis) or longer exposure (in the case of irritant contact dermatitis). In either case, it is good to learn about the options of treatment for contact dermatitis.

First Steps to Treat Contact Dermatitis

The first thing you need to do is stay away from the irritants when possible (or at least reduce exposure). In the case of allergic contact dermatitis, you need to tally evade the presence of allergens. Also, I know this condition causes excessive itching, but DON'T SCRATCH. Doing this will probably lead only to infection and you will need antibiotics to fight it. If it itches too much, use a cold compress and apply it on the area.

Medications for Contact Dermatitis

If there are still signs and symptoms after removing the triggers, you doctor may indicate the use of topical treatment: topical steroids, hydrocortisone creams and emollients. These need to be used to lower down the redness and itching. The type of cream and length of use will depend on the severity of the symptoms and time coping with the condition.

Further Treatment for Contact Dermatitis

To manage this condition, you may be in need of cool bathes to keep the skin feeling fresh and free of itching. When bathing, using mild soap helps recovering faster, there are great mild soaps out there, and if you can't find one, use baby's shampoo for sensitive skin. You should also take care of skin and properly moisturizer, remember that dermatitis leaves your skin dry.

When people talk about dermatitis they are referring a lot of times to eczema, but eczema is only one type of dermatitis: atopic dermatitis. The term itself means inflammation of the skin and it encompasses different variations or types (like contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, neurodermatitis, etc.)
Perioral dermatitis is a type of skin inflammation that affects the area around the mouth. In order to treat this skin inflammation, you must first learn about the symptoms of perioral dermatitis. Dermatitis is one of the most common skin problems. And even when taking into account all the steps to proper skin care you can suffer from it. The term dermatitis means "inflammation of the skin" and it refers to either inflammation or swelling, many people often refers to dermatitis as eczema. If I had to name the biggest sign of dermatitis, it would be severe itching; sufferers are often scratching themselves heavily to find a type of relief - that by the way comes only for some seconds.
Perioral dermatitis is a type of dermatitis that appears around the mouth however it can then spread to surrounding areas like the chin or the nose. Although from the outside it may look like acne, it is different and it can be caused by the products you apply to your face - and even your toothpaste! The signs of perioral dermatitis manifest around the mouth in the form of rashes, hence the "perioral" part.
Sebohrreic dermatitis is a type of dermatitis that affects millions of people in the World. Dermatitis means inflammation of the skin and it is often referred as eczema. Dermatitis is often spotted the first time you notice you have dry itchy skin. Though some people only have a dry skin problem, there are others who suffer from this common condition, found in people from all ages, sex and race. If both of these symptoms are presents: dryness and itching, a visit to a skin professional could be pretty helpful.
