The glamorous life of working on a cruise ship. We all dream about obtaining cruise ship careers. Many think cruise ship jobs can't be beat for a wide range of reasons. But the reality is, a cruise line job can be very stressful and demanding, depending on your particular job.

After all, you're partially responsible for the happiness of lots of passengers who paid a pretty hefty sum of money.  The last thing you want to do is ruin their vacation because you don't take your job seriously and conduct yourself in a professional manner.  Cruise lines are very serious about how their passengers are being treated by the employees and crew. To a certain degree, the crew holds the reputation of the entire cruise line in their hands.

But let's face it, the scenery and overall experience is better than working in a cube or stuffy office.  You do get a roof over your head and meals for free after all. Not only that, you can enjoy yourself while visiting countries all over the world and soaking up the sun on the beach or pool. Of course, this is only while the passengers are at port. It's certainly not a free vacation like many who pursue cruise ship careers think.

The point is, working on a cruise ship does have it's drawbacks, all the benefits and glamour aside. You may want to strongly consider your decision to pursue a cruise ship career, before just jumping in head first. It's definitely a vastly different lifestyle than most people are accustomed to, so make sure you can handle the transition without too much of a shock to your system.
