Stress is one of the intrinsic factors that eats into every urbanite’s life. But then it would be biased saying that only urbanites are affected by such humdrum known as stress. As a peep into village life will reveal equal or sometimes even more stress. Reason being varying conditions in climate for agriculture based villages or non-availability of jobs and so on.

Well we all know the impositions of a city life penetrate deeper into our skin and shake our very existence. The wickedness of stress has increased over the years from dry skin, dark circles, change in hair texture to diseases like heartburn, indigestion and worst of them all – heart attacks.

But there is one person who can nullify deteriorating health and that person is you. Well it takes some time for the individual to understand that he or she is feeling ill because of stress. That the main culprit for all the downturn of events is stress.

So how do you know it is stress?
By the end of the day you find it difficult to breathe.
You have frequent headaches or some part of your body aches almost every day.
You experience heartburn most times in a day
When you take a day off, you feel completely refreshed the following day.
You long for a holiday.

What next?
a) Get yourself checked with a few blood and body tests.
b) Ask the doctor for his recommendations
c) It could be food related or mental or physical aspects you will have to look in.

Solution :
Food related – you need to cut down on salt and fatty foods. No oily foods or aerated drinks. And put alcohol and smoking on hold for a very long time. As it only elevates the stress levels.

Physically – you need to gear up on your physical outlook. Even if you are slim or not overweight, your body may be hollow from within. Yoga is known as one of the finest exercise to de-stress the body. But you can select whatever you like. Aerobics, dance classes, swimming, tennis or any other sport is a good stress buster and keeps you physically fit. Making your body able to deal with stress.

Mentally – it is very important that you tune yourself mentally on the downhill stress brings along. You need to make yourself understand that money is not what your life should revolve around. Work is indeed necessary but not an overload. Being a workaholic is only an impediment for your growth as sometimes down the line it will lead to a breakdown. And the hours and days you will take to recuperate will only put your career on hold. Instead if you take each day as it comes, you will be happier and healthier in the long run.
