Raw, vacant land acquisition is an extremely viable business opportunity for the alert investor both on a local and an international level. There are still many locations within America where good, potentially profitable raw, vacant land that can be turned around for excellent profit and which can be acquired with minimal cash outlay.

The secret is knowing when and where to buy and exactly when to sell. Areas that look as if there may be a population growth, industrial expansion, resort planning or other growth opportunities are potential hot spots that merit investigation for any speculator interested in acquiring a lucrative raw land deal.

Although the stock market can provide a venue to make money on paper, land investment, on the other hand, is a tangible asset. Although land is not infinite - after all there is only so much of it - the beauty of land acquisition lies in its versatility. A piece of raw, vacant land that appears to be no more than a barren, isolated piece of property can soon be transmogrified into a valuable and sought after piece of real estate depending on development and resettlement projects that may take place in the future. For this reason, acquisition of raw, vacant land makes a lot more sense as an investment possibility because of its solidity and versatility.

Research has shown that many areas of the United States that were previously considered worthless have exploded into prime real estate venues. You can be sure lot of people scoffed when the desert surrounding Las Vegas was being promoted, but the raw land speculators who bought into that deal had the last laugh on them.

Outdoor activities are becoming more and more organized and urban land area is shrinking. People are becoming more and more health conscious and they are much more willing to travel great distances in order to challenge their boundaries. Gen-x people work hard and play harder so they have no qualms in attending out of the way ski resorts, health spas and other properties dedicated to providing an outlet for pleasure and relaxation. That mountain that was simply an insurmountable rock now becomes a prime location for a seasonal playground. What this means to the raw, vacant land investor is, of course, big money.

Most people fail to realize the potential of a given piece of property. Huge amounts of money have been garnered by those with the foresight to purchase vacant tracts of forest, market it as a Mecca for hunters or other wildlife enthusiasts and then just sit back and watch the profits roll in.

In addition to providing a place for people to go, raw vacant land is increasingly being converted into residential, commercial and industrial goldmines. By keeping their eyes and ears open, over a period of time, the savvy vacant land investor can truly see the diamond in the plain old lump of coal.
