Even though traffic to your website isn't a guaranteed entity, one thing is.

If the quality of the content on your website is good and you have the right keywords in your blog, Google will take note of this. If people stay for marked periods of time on your site, Google may decide to consider you an "authority" on your particular topic.

If this happens, Google will index your site and literally thousands of people can then find it. This means that many quality prospects will visit your business online daily.

That said, Google can also be unforgiving. Depending on what you do, it can be "unpredictable."

If Google changes its algorithm or makes the standards for a so-called "authority blog" higher and yours no longer fits within these standards, you may be out of luck. Of course, Google also does not tell you what that standard is, exactly, so it's not as though you can adjust your own behavior accordingly.

Your traffic can disappear instantly.

Luckily, we have Web 2.0 to the rescue, which can be much more effective and a lot quicker than a search engine in getting you tons of traffic. Blogs make it very possible for you as a business owner to take full advantage of it.

In Joe Vitale's Hypnotic Marketing 2.0 bonus interview, David Ledoux explains how he gets over 10,000 visitors to his blog, and over 7,000 of those visitors come from social bookmarking sites alone.

Had David sat back and waited on the search engines (like the old days), he'd be getting less than half the amount of traffic he's getting now.

There are numerous sites such as Digg.com, Stumbleupon.com, and OnlyWire.com that allow you to share your blog posts and articles with communities of millions of users with just a push of a button.

They're free, and the results can be mind boggling if you use them correctly.

Regardless, there are some things you keep in mind before you submit blog content willy-nilly. How effective your blog is largely depends on those sites' community members.

In these communities, democracy is key. People vote your blog article up or down. If enough people like it and vote it up, the article becomes highly visible, which means that you get more traffic. It depends on your content and its quality.

If you blog with marketing in mind and you write things that really sound like ads or otherwise come across as very self-serving or otherwise scream "marketing," people will run away. Advertising and marketing really have no place when you share content on the site. People don't like to be sold "to," so you shouldn't try it.

Also, if it's just plain boring, it won't receive much love either. Make it interesting, funny, or engaging in some way. The trick is to tie your blog articles back into your product or service in someway. Creativity is key!

A great technique is to create articles based on the calendar. Holidays, events, and seasons can be very interesting topics to write about. Writing about things going on currently in the news is also very effective.

Dr. Joe Vitale wrote a blog article titled 'Desperate Valentines', and wrote 15 things you can do if you're alone on Valentines Day. Once he launched it on February 14th and submitted it to Digg.com, he generated close to 20,000 unique hits to his blog.

The possibilities are endless, so make blogging a key component of your internet marketing.
