I bet you agree with the fact that our writing skills have changed a lot since we started communicating on social media. Many new forms of otherwise long words and sentences have evolved which are actually not correct as per the language grammar but make sense in the internet world. The authenticity of the language, we write in, is completely ignored while making status updates and comments on Facebook, Twitter or other social networking sites. But it's indigestible from a professional point of view while updating or blogging on corporate websites.
Facebook/twitter and Social Networking Sites
It's tough but fun to play with words when posting on social network. The 140 word limit of Twitter is not easy to ignore, but then it also gives the benefit to write a brief, meaningful and up to the mark comment. It depends on your ability how to use acronyms and abbreviations to explain your post. While Facebook and other sites have enough space to write in, blogs and other posts only make sense when they are written in a concise way because they more likely to be read than the long ones.
Corporate Communion on Social Media
As I said above, its ok to loose your grammar from a non-corporate view but when it comes to your business, you gotta be very grammer specific while writing. Silly and clumsy writing can throw your business from the client desk to the bin. Irrespective of on which site you are posting or commenting, be sure to avoid the word repetitions, typographical and grammatical errors.
In corporate communications, the only thing which matters and makes the difference is how you present your idea. So grammatical mistakes, improper use of words have no place in professional communion. Organizations spend millions to bring an idea in existence, why the hell they avoid the fact that if not communicated properly it's just a piece of waste. Newspapers and Magazines have proof readers and editors to cast the final view of their reading. This also applies to all companies who want to have their presence on social media. Therefore, whether you are on social media or in a client conference, no matter how big or innovative your idea is, it'll not going to work until you present it in an attractive manner blended with accurate grammatical and writing skills.
