There is no true definition for 'Emo' but it is believed to be a term which was borrowed from the 80`s music scene .Emo, short for 'emotional' is considered to be a combination of melodic and experimental music with the more hardcore variety. However Emo has come to mean more than just music to a lot of people and specific fashion trends, attitudes and open displays of emotion have begun to be strongly associated with Emo. Girls who conform to the Emo way of life are known as Emo girls.

The Emo girl look

Emo girls and boys are characterized by their melancholy personalities, complete lack of self worth and self confidence and a very typical style of dressing. Tight jeans, black straight hair, studded belts-shirts with names of rock bands, lots of dark eyeliner and horn-rimmed glasses are some of the typical Emo girl wardrobe necessities. Emo girls are often found sporting hair that is short and spiky in the back, with long bangs sweeping over one side of the face or across the eyes in front. Though the color is critical in an Emo hairstyle the cut has to be just right to complete the shy and mysterious Emo girl look. Most of what an Emo girl wears could be hand me downs or picked up at thrift shops but Emo girls pretty much dress the way they want and do not care much for public opinion about their sense of style.

The Emo girl personality

Emo girls have a certain leaning towards poetry, are sad and weepy most of the time and are particular about the kind of music they listen to which is mostly poetic and expressive with truthful lyrics based broadly on real life sad situations .The depression and sense of isolation may sometimes drive them to cut their wrists .Vegetarianism is the popular diet pattern which may also be one of the reasons why most Emo girls are lean and skinny.

The Emo girl world

Emo girls tend to think of themselves as outcasts though they do not really care about what others think of them and are comfortable with the way they feel .They are extremely withdrawn and do not like to make eye contact with anyone though they relate very well to other Emo kids and understand what it means to be Emo . They usually have been through rough relationships before and that makes them depressed and lonely but within their own Emo groups there is definitely an element of profound understanding and camaraderie. In spite of the tendency to see the glass as half empty always Emo girls do see the world as a beautiful place. Though interacting with the other inhabitants who are not Emo is deemed as unpleasant and unnecessary they respect them for who they are.

All in all, Emo girls are individuals who are in touch with their inner self and are not really unlike many of us who try to be unique and different in whatever way possible just to establish an identity and live life the way we want to.
