Get Web Traffic Fast By Writing Great Press Releases

Writing a press release can be one of the very best methods for traffic generation if done right; they are also one of the cheapest forms of advertising out there, yet no less effective for this. A press release more or less is a news article which you write and then submit to any outlets who may be interested in running it as news. This can really get your website exposed to a wide audience. You can include links to your site in press releases, which will help you drive more traffic to your site. There are right and wrong ways to do this, of course and a well written press release will get you much better results. Here are a few things to keep in mind to write a great press release.

Step #1 - Keep it Short - Brevity is the soul of wit; this is also the case for press releases. Keep it short! This is the primary rule of press releases - make sure that yours is no more than a page in length, preferably with a word count somewhere between 300 and 600 words. Make it informative, yet concise and easy to read. Keeping it short will keep you from losing readers.

Step #2 - Have an Angle - You need an angle if you want this to read like a press release rather than a sales pitch. Remember that a press release will need to be newsworthy in order to be run by any outlet. If you can make it read like a news story, all the better.

Step #3 - Write an Attractive Title - Your title is going to be one of the most important parts of your press release, since it is one of the first things that people will see. The title needs to interest them in the press release so they'll read more. If the title does not catch their eye, then more than likely they will not take the time to read further into your press release.

Step #4 - Don't Create Hype - If you're trying to write press releases for traffic generation purposes, hype is something you must avoid. A press release should be strictly informative in nature; anything else will likely result in your press release being rejected and if it is run, quickly shunned by readers. Stick to the facts; a press release is not a sales pitch, don't treat it like one.

Step #5 - Optimize for Important Keywords - Optimizing for important keywords is another important step when writing press releases. You want the press releases to be keyword rich so they can be easily found by search engines.

Step #6 - Include Your Contact Information - Of course you need to make sure that you include your contact information as well, especially the website address. Writing the release is geared towards bringing in more website traffic, so you have to make sure that people who read the press release have your website address so they can visit for more information.
