In the current economic climate, fundraising is becoming more and more difficult, whether fundraising for charity or for a non-charity cause such as schools, churches, political parties or for other groups. Not only this, but even charities themselves are needing nowto compete for donations and earnings because more and more groups are becoming registered as charities and there are more and more causes requiring financial help. The reason for this is because we are becoming more sensitive to, and aware of others in need around us and with this awareness comes a compulsion to help those less fortunate than ourselves, whether people or animals.
Thus, groups need to be more innovative and creative in their fundraising plans, in order to stand out, attract prospective donators and maximize money earned. In this current climate, the street and door-to-door collections are no longer as attractive as before, and fundraisers need to give something for their money earned. An example of this would be selling raffle tickets rather than simply asking for money. Raffles are always a great idea because they give a person hope; people thrive on hope and it brings a little spring in a persons step to think that they are in with a chance of winning something nice. The 99% of people who don't win, don't mind because they still got something out of buying the tickets and they continue to live in hope that they will win something the next time.
Other examples of good fundraisers are as follows:
- Bazaars: These events involve the public donating unwanted items which are re-sellable and the re-sale takes place on a particular day in a specific location. Items are normally sold at much reduced prices and events like these are often combined with a raffle, cake sale, coffee shop, facepainting for the kids and other little add-ons to maximize earnings. These events are hard work and very time-consuming but they are good earners and provide a social event for the public to attend and entertainment in the form of a raffle and other games/competitions which may take place.
- Sponsored Walks: This is a very easy event to organize and as long as it is advertized very well, does not take place in Winter and does not clash with other local events, it can be very lucrative. Be careful regarding public liability insurance which may be required. Invite people to bring their dogs and maybe have a fancy dress code for both you and your dog to make it more interesting. Offer refreshments during and after the walk and try to make it as much fun as possible.
- Bag packing in a busy local supermarket is always a good earner but ensure that packers know how to pack. Women are generally best at this, from doing their own shopping!
- Carol singing/Street entertainment: In many countries, a permit is not required for this fundraiser since entertainment is being provided to the public. Having a talent for performing is a big advantage but surprisingly, is not a necessity. Coming up to Christmas is mostly a happy and exciting time and this is by far the best time of year to fundraise. Catch people while out and about doing their shopping, when they will have handbags at the ready and might be happy to give to the group of people dressed up in their Santa gear, looking silly but having fun. Most importantly, have fun, spread the christmas cheer, make a fool of yourself, smile and be happy! Happy people attract others and if you are having a good time, you will make money. Sometimes volunteers being their pets (dressed as santa) and these will attract attention from the animal lovers. Have them well wrapped up against the weather though and have some fresh water available for them. Don't bring a nervous dog who may snap, however.
- Pub Quiz: These are popular in the UK and Ireland and are a good earner as they can be combined with a raffle. People like to be entertained and are competitive by nature and this fundraiser, if advertised well, will be very attractive.
The above lists just some of the better fundraisers to have but there are always the other events which also bring in the cash such as street collections, church gate collections and standing order requests. You could always offer a freebie with these collections to be more attractive. Don't forget, people love to socialize, they love to have hope and they love to be entertained so use these facts to be ahead of the competition when organizing fundraisers.

One of the decisions a company must consider while fund raising from potential venture capital partners is to look for a good standing placement agent. This is in order for a company not to spend too much of its own time seeking for seed capital, mezzanine capital, or growth capital funding for startups or various business expansions.
A company usually hires a placement agent in order not to spend too much of its own time seeking for mezzanine capital or growth equity investors. Sometimes the lender also commissions an agent so that the fund partners can aim attention at management issues rather than focusing on how to raise venture capital.

They say money is the root of evil - well, some people say that, anyway. However, money is also required to the existance of any charitible organization, so it can't be that bad! How many times do you notice people collecting money intended for their organization? On the other hand, how many organizations do you see going without any type of money? (None? Of course, that's because any that would attempt to do that would not survive long enough to be seen!) The good news is that there are many methods to generate donations.
