No matter what you are trying to sell, persuasive sales copy is what is going to make those sales of your product or service. The best copy manages to communicate to the reader in a way that they can immediately relate to; this is half of the job of persuading the reader. To write copy that will have the best chances of translating directly into sales of your product or service, read on for some important tips that can help you to craft some truly powerful sales copy.

Tip #1 - Gear the Copy to the Reader - It is imperative that you make sure the copy you write is geared to the reader. You don't want to gear it towards yourself, but to the potential customer. Don't just talk about the product, but let them know what is in it for them. Using the word 'you' within the copy can definitely help you do this.

Tip #2 - Talk About Benefits - Many people make the mistake of writing copy that focuses on the features. Sure, the fact that there are great features is wonderful, but you need to focus in on the benefits for your customer. They need to see how the product or service can be a benefit to them. Make sure you focus on the end results and communicate all the benefits and not just the features of what you are trying to sell.

Tip #3 - Use an Enticing Headline - Your headline can decide whether your copy is going to succeed or fail. Remember, you're not going for a headline that is cute, but something that is actually effective. Design the headline for your copy so that it appeals to the concerns and interests of the person reading the copy. Then they'll be sure to go on to read the rest of your copy once you draw them in with the headline.

Tip #4 - Keep it Simple and Conversational - Keep your copy conversational - that is, write it as if you were taking to someone rather than writing to them. Make it informal, but get your message across to the reader.

Tip #5 - Keep it Short and Easy to Read - No one wants to read huge amounts of text, so you want to make sure that you keep the copy short and easy to read as well. If you make the copy too long, you may lose the reader before they actually read all that you have to say. Break up the text with subheadings, make it look attractive, and keep it as short as possible.

Tip #6 - Encourage the Sale - In your last paragraph, you should encourage the sale. Encourage your reader to make a purchase, visit a website for more information, whatever action you would like them to take, now is the time to ask them to do so; your reader will be at their most receptive if you have followed the tips listed here and done its job as an effective piece of sales copy.

The only measure of a copywriter's talent... is how much and how fast he can sell his client's product! Not too long ago I was approached by a marketer who had a product idea - just the idea mind you. And he wanted to hire me to develop it... market it... sell it... and everything in-between. The reason being - he didn't have the time to do it himself. My first thought was... now here's a man after my own heart - lazy as the day is long, and dying to be rich and famous without lifting a finger.
