Split ends is a result of procrastinating a good trim which all of us require atleast in a period of six weeks. Dry hair and a dry scalp condition often lead to split ends. The hair follicles require the moisturizing nourishment which is derived from the natural oils produced by the scalp. When hair is bereft of the same, it results in split ends. If one normally is in a habit of leaving hair loose or again going to bed with a tangled mass then this can aggravate the condition.

Avoid using hot curlers or irons often. Styling is necessary and using a dependable gel or mousse should be done after consulting your beautician. Keep hair scalp clean and condition well. If you need to travel or you are overexposed to sun, use a scarf as the UV rays erodes the natural oils from the hair. Hair damage is caused due to ignoring the harmful effects on hair. Do not tie hair or knot hair with tight pincers. Letting hair breathe is a good idea. Though hair washes are important for hygiene it is also important to wash hair only when it is dirty. Again crunching the hair and tugging will irritate the texture of your hair. Woolen scarves and plastic hair bands heat up the hair.

The only way to avoid split ends is to cut them off. Split ends cutting is a technique and a long process. Watch out for split ends. If hair is thin then the friction is high. While going to bed do not use synthetic pillows or cover the hair with a duvet or blanket. Use a cotton towel over the pillow so that the friction is less. If split ends are ignored, then make their way upwards to the crown and this is a ugly sight. Uncared hair is full of split ends which changes the original quality and colour of the hair.

While using hair colour choose branded ones. Streaking is a better option and conditioning the hair becomes necessary. There are shampoos and conditioners especially available for rebounded hair, permed styled and colorued hair. Do not try out two treatments at the same time. If you wish to straighten your hair, colour your hair a week later. The idea is to let the hair follicles settle down with one treatment.

It is advisable not to brush hair with narrow toothed combs and avoid combing when hair is wet. Split ends happen while using curlers, blow drying and also ironing the hair. Styles are required but use a protective layer or lock in moisturizer to maintain the nourishment. Pat wet hair with towel and do not tug the same. Seldom use overheated curlers, irons and let hair stay natural. Nourish scalp with a finger tip massage and go for a regular trim. Diet too needs to be checked for correct dry scalp and split ends.
