Wavy hair is a very recent and widespread trend these days with most Indian and Hollywood celebrities sporting this look. So if you want to try something fresh and turn some heads too, here is how you go about it:

1) Turn your hair upside down and spray the roots after washing with volume or texture spray and massage it into the pores. This rubbing motion gives body and texture to your hair.

2) For naturally coarse or curly hair, apply a straightening balm through hair before styling.

3) Brush your hair often (this works the balm evenly through hair). Blow dry your hair straight, beginning at the roots for more volume. Dry your hair completely for this look to be achieved well. Blow cold air at the roots to add volume (cold air gives the ideal touch of volume and grace to this style).

4) Make three sections of your hair, securing it with a clip. (It's easier to curl your hair this way).

5) Use a curling iron and start with one section, take an inch long part of your hair and spray with styling spray. Wrap your hair around the barrel of the curling iron. (Wrapping hair is different from the more conventional curling methods. Wrapping hair rather than clipping it to the barrel allows you to curl all the way up to the root). Leave ends loose when curling to avoid a crimp mark at the end which looks unnatural.

6) Then, roll curl and pin your hair close to the scalp.

7) Now, the curls depend on the direction of wrapping and how tight the barrel is. You can achieve versatile curls by playing with these two parameters. Change the direction and tightness from barrel to barrel to achieve different wavy hair looks.

8) Once the pinned curls have cooled down, leave them loose.

9) Gently dry your hair with cool air from a hair dryer. And use your fingers to set the curls. Do not use a hair brush at all at this point.

10) Finally, set your hair with hairspray and don’t try to alter the look you have achieved with curling much with the hair spray because this will make it look artificial since all new waves introduced now will look and feel crunchy. The hair spray is essentially to maintain the look.
