Toning is about gaining lean muscle mass. Increasing muscle is a sensible goal for both men and women. Increased muscle will give you a more toned look for women and a more muscular look for men. Beyond the cosmetic benefits the increase in muscle will also accelerate your metabolic rate while protecting your body from injury and increase many aspects of health e.g. bone density. Muscle tone is also important for leading a pain-free and healthy life.

The key to muscle tone is to do less volume of sets, but work out more frequently. Very few people understand how effective low reps are for muscle tone. Low reps create harder contractions and over time, your muscle will display better tone. Feel free to include medium to high reps, but make sure you don't neglect heavier low rep training as well. Gaining strength at a low body fat level is a great way to look ripped!

In order to build a toned body, a person needs to engage in strength training as well as shed the layer of fat covering his muscles. He needs to put in some efforts and his muscles need to be stressed in order for them to change and grow. To build attractive muscular body you must do two things. Provide the body with a stimulus to build muscle. This comes from resistance training and then gives the body the nutrients it needs to build muscle.

To build muscle the cells need vitamins and mineral in optimal amounts. You also need to lift weight to build muscle. Cardio training is also important to muscle tone. Cardio training melts away all the access fat around your muscles making them have a ripped look. However, simply going down the gym or doing a couple of exercises in your home will not guarantee muscle growth. Instead you need to follow a well planned workout routine. For this, you may refer some weight-training experts.
