Not so long ago, if you wanted to listen to music while on the move you would have to carry around a chunky portable CD player, a large set of headphones and a case full of CDs. However, these days all you need is a small iPod weighing considerably less than the portable CD players used to.

The iPods have become a very popular piece of technology in the past few years and have been improved significantly since they were first brought out. The first iPods would allow the user to store around 100 songs at any time, the most recent iPods allow close to 10,000 songs to be stored at any one time.

As well as a larger memory, the newer iPods allow users to store photographs, movies, games and applications. With all of this technology and capability the iPod is no longer just an MP3 player but is a portable entertainment system in its self.

Last year the iPod was one of the most sought after gifts for Christmas and is still selling in high quantities around the world. Because of the simplicity of the iPod it is used by many people of all ages but is generally more popular with the younger generation.

Not so long ago, attachments were brought out that connect to the iPod and use a certain frequency to allow you to play your music wirelessly through a car stereo or sound system around the house. This piece of technology comes in very handy for parties or long car trips when the radio can become a little tedious.
