How do you currently travel rivers? Do you walk along the bank or maybe travel in a canoe? Both of these ways obviously work, but neither on of them is as good as the way I found recently. It's called an inflatable pontoon boat. They go by different names, but basically they are a personal boat that when deflated can fit in your trunk, and is the best way to travel a river in my opinion. Whether you're fishing, taking pictures, hunting, or just plain relaxing an inflatable pontoon boat works great.
So what is an inflatable pontoon boat anyway? Is it like those monstrosities that you see at your local lake, that carry fifteen people on a platform? No not at all. The inflatable pontoon boats that I'm referring to are basically personal boats. They carry one to two people. Basically they are a seat (or two) mounted on two inflatable pontoons. For traveling down a small river or stream, they are hard to beat. A personal pontoon boat is perfect for fishermen, hunters, photographers, or any outdoor enthusiasts.
The ease of use and portability make these boats much more practical than say a canoe or raft, which can both be a pain in the butt to haul around from place to place. In most cases a personal pontoon boat will easily fit in the trunk of a car, so hauling it around is simple and easy. Then when you're done with your outdoor activity, simply deflate the pontoons and return the boat to your trunk. What could be more convenient?
As I eluded to earlier, whether you enjoy fishing, hunting, photography, or just enjoy being in nature, a personal pontoon boat is the way to go. The silence that is experienced while floating down an un-crowded river is hard to beat. In my opinion, spending time floating down a river in this way will cure whatever it might be that ails you. There's no better way to clear your head than floating carefree down a river.

The other day I found some binoculars that I like. They are the 8x42 waterproof, long eye relief, BaK4, multi-coated binoculars by Alpen. They are easy to handle and carry well. They are not red, as my wife would like, but their green color goes well with the outdoors. Sometimes I wonder if my wife wants everything in life to be red. Somehow it has become thee color for items in her life and our house. Don't get me wrong, I love my wife and she can have things whatever color she wants. Lately it just happens to be red. But as I said binoculars do not generally come in red.
Binocular Prisms are what let you see a correctly oriented image when you look through a pair of binoculars. There are really only two types of prisms in common use, Porro prisms and Roof prisms. Your choice comes down to how you plan to use them. Style and cost may be factors in your choice but usually your preference is not the type Roof or Porro but the way the binoculars handle as you use them. It really becomes just a personal feel for what you want.

This article explains the ins and outs of binocular magnification and power. Many people want to know the particulars of their binoculars and this shows the basics of magnification and power. Binoculars are commonly described by using a pair of numbers, as in "7x50" or "8x25." The first of these numbers refers to the magnification or power offered by the binocular. Magnification is why most people buy a pair of binoculars. In the examples above, "7x" means the binocular makes whatever you look at appear seven times closer than it does to the unaided human eye. "8x" means the binocular makes whatever you look at eight times closer than the unaided human eye. "10x" makes things look ten times closer, and so on.

Binoculars are one of the handiest, useful and most widespread of all optical instruments. Virtually everyone who spends time outdoors owns, or needs to own a pair of binoculars. More than 46 million birdwatchers spend almost $500 million annually on binoculars and related equipment in the U.S., according to the federal Fish and Wildlife Service. Birdwatchers aren't the only ones looking to get close to their subjects--boaters, hunters, sports fans, theater-goers, and experienced travelers all rely on binoculars.
