Is My Doctor's Office a Health Hazard?

I wondered those exact words to myself as I wiped a sneeze off of my sleeve so graciously bestowed upon me from the person in the next chair over. I've never been a fan of doctor’s offices for this exact reason. I go to the doctor to get healed from my current illness, not to pick up a different one. Concerned, I spoke with my doctor, and then headed home to do some research of my own. The conclusion I came up with will differ from time to time...see what you think.

I like to compare my doctor's office sometimes to a cow herding facility. Don't get me wrong, there is a reason all these people are choosing this office for their grazing grounds. My doctor's office does a terrific job; they keep things clean and very friendly. (I found them and a cheap health insurance plan by going to Health Plan One...terrific site!) However, there is something to be said for all the people that go in and out of the office each day. When I spoke to my physician, he laughed and said that "the doctor's office is the safest place in the world. I used to bring my kids when they were little and let them crawl around all day. They ended up building an amazing immune system. If you keep your kids isolated from germs, they won’t know how to handle them when they do come in contact with them." This made complete sense to me.

My curious nature prodded me to dig a little deeper though. I realized that you need to know when to relax, and also when to go overboard. For instance, if you are a new parent and going in for your baby’s first check-up, it probably wouldn't be wise to let strangers coo over your little one. Keep a light blanket over the carrier and keep those germs out. Little immune systems need to stay strong. Also, there's the dreaded winter flu season. When you bring your toddler to the doctor, make sure to bring your own books and toys. This isn’t the time to be sharing germs with others. Some flu strains are miserable and should really be avoided. Most importantly, be careful about door knobs and chair arms. You are most likely to pick up the flu when touching items such as those.

If you have a child with special needs who can pick up an illness easily, it is a good thing to be paranoid! Keeping your child healthy is our responsibility. While we can't prevent them from ever getting sick (nor would we want to), we can control how much they are subjected to unhealthy environments.

Ultimately, if your child is well and thriving for the time being, don't freak out when they pick up that toy at the doctor's office. Some germs are good for our little ones. Follow your intuition as a parent, watch for those health triggers, and finally relax. You’ve done all you can and worrying never does anyone any good.

The cost of health care has soared to unimaginable heights over the last few years, such that almost everyone is now conscious of the need to find affordable health insurance quote for their health insurance needs. Health care and health care insurance are now treated as important as the basic needs of an individual that includes food, utilities, rental, home and car maintenance, entertainment, etc. With the cost of health care and health care insurance rising by the day, the more people find the need to search for affordable health insurance quotes.
There are many options available to Americans for health and dental plans. The most common health plan is regular insurance provided by employers, but there are other types of plans that don't cost as much. Dental plans are also usually provided by the workplace, but they are disappearing as employers are trying to cope with rising health costs. 46 million Americans are without health insurance and nearly 50 per cent of this country has no dental insurance. As we live longer and demand more from our health and dental providers, the price tag for these plans will continue to go up.
Millions of Americans are unfortunately riding in the same rocky boat. Income isn't what it used to be and that paycheck just isn't enough anymore. For some, this means cutting out anything considered unnecessary. While this may include unplugging the cable TV, or going without fast food for awhile, so be it. Whatever happens, you cannot afford to go without healthcare!
Most people are used to the concept of health insurance. However, not everyone knows the specifics on different policies. Certain situations may not be covered by a generic health insurance policy and therefore it is important to know which variants are available. Long term care health insurance is one of those variations and following is a brief explanation of how it works and why it is important.
The new Administration is taking over facing an unprecedented economic crisis. The country is already deep in debt and proposes to spend billions more to help prevent a long-lasting recession. Looking overseas, the war in Iraq still has eighteen months to run and there is no end to the war in Afghanistan in sight. So some would argue this is not a good time to start proposing major changes to the health care system.
We have all heard the numbers by now; 46 million people in this country are uninsured. This is a disturbing number, but it’s important to understand who these people are and why they are uninsured. Medicare and Medicaid are government programs that have been set up to take care of many of these people, but not all of them. Government programs take money from the taxpayers and use it to cover the uninsured, but the more government intervenes; the more expensive healthcare gets for all of us.
I crossed my legs and tried to relax a little bit. Taxi rides weren’t my favorite. There was something about the smell of the car mixed with a constant feeling of having your money sucked right out of your wallet that always left me uneasy. I closed my eyes and tried to mentally transport myself to Guatemala.
