If an exact figure were required, pertaining to the amount of people that suffer brain and head injuries, every year, in Britain, then it would be somewhere in the region of 120,000. There are many instances that cause a person to suffer a head or brain injury, including, work related injuries, road traffic accidents, criminal injury, and clinical negligence.

The severity of all these brain/head injuries that occur is divaricate. Some suffer in a relatively minor capacity, making a full recovery. Others are not so fortunate, with lives being permanently affected for the worse. As well as being devastating for the victim it can make life very difficult for victims’ families: some are paralysed by brain damage.

If a person is the victim of a head or brain injury then there is a chance that they can claim remuneration for what has happened. In order for a claimant to be successful they must be able to prove that the injury was the result of another person. As long as this can be proved then there is a good chance of a person getting compensation. Claimants’ along with their families are often completely financially reliant upon compensation.

The life of a person that suffers a head/brain injury is often essentially ruined as the result of the injury that they have suffered. It is for this reason that people suffering such trauma are granted huge sums of money. A person that has had a brain/head injury is likely to be awarded a great deal more than a person that has cut themselves a little bit, or twisted an ankle as the result of another’s negligence.

In the consideration of remuneration, several factors are taken into account. Pain and suffering relative to injury levels, combined with the antecedent cost, (relative to loss of earnings as well as the cost of medical care), dictate the amount of compensation that a claimant receives. Also, the calculable cost of subsequent care and loss of earnings will be considered. It is necessary for a claimant to get very good legal assistance. Preferably a person that specialises in head/brain related personal injury, and preferably a person that is conveniently prepared to travel to the home/hospital of the client.
