Any person who works, irrespective of the type of job that they do, is at risk of suffering a work related injury. Although certain jobs are more dangerous than others, there is a risk of being injured that is inherent to any job. It can be stated that certain types of injury are indicative of certain types of job. It cannot though, be argued that a person is only going to suffer a serious injury if they work in a dangerous job: a person working in an office could trip and break their neck. Now that it has been established that workplaces are dangerous, to varying degrees, we can take a look at the different types of injury that frequently occur whilst people do their jobs.

It is extremely common for someone to be injured in work, as the result of a slip/trip/fall. This is doubtless due to the fact that such incidents are easily avoided, and therefore people become complacent. Arguably, it is a case of people leaving their common sense at home, for this is all it takes, common sense, for a lot of trip/slip/fall incidents to be avoided. Ensuring a safe working environment is not solely the duty of the employer, and employees should make sure that spillages are dealt with.

Another common type of injury in the workplace is the manual handling injury, which occurs as a result of cockiness. The obvious nature of manual handling, particularly in relation to how it is advocated, means that many people don’t take it seriously. People only tend to take it seriously when it is too late: when they have gone into traction. Any physician will tell you that approximately 78% of back problems are, to some extent, incurable, reoccurring for the remainder of sufferers’ lives.

It is very unfortunate, but work related injuries occur as the result of people falling from heights. This is not always in a manner as profound as to cause death: people fall from tables being used as makeshift ladders. It is a truism though, that of all work related deaths, the majority are caused by people falling from heights. Dependent on the sector of employment that someone works in, working at a height may be an integral part of what an employee has to do on a daily basis. People commonly fall from ladders, scaffolding, machinery and roofs.

There are of course ways in which work related falls can be avoided. Don’t for example, use chairs and tables instead of ladders. Don’t use ladders when the equipment for the job is scaffolding. Don’t use machinery when you are not wearing appropriate protection, and don’t use machinery that you have not been trained to use. Always observe manual handling protocol. Clean spillages up from work areas, as well as clearing away anything that may potentially cause a person to trip over.

A stokes interview happens primarily in marriage based immigration cases. Very often, U.S. Citizens sponsor their spouses for Permanent Residence to the United States. Upon submission of the documents, the USCIS office forwards an interview notice to the parties to come in for an interview. The interview letter from Immigration clearly describes the documents which the married couple has to get to the interview.

In 2003, the Proceeds of Crime Act was designed to take money or assets from suspected criminals and to reinvest those proceeds into neighborhoods that have a high crime infestation.
