After completing over 500 limericks in the last year, one always faces the dilemma of "What now, what do I do with them?"
It really depends on your long term strategy. Is limerick writing going to be a fun pastime, or do you intend getting some financial reward for your efforts? That is your decision that you need to make. Either way, the options in terms of storage are:
1. Save them on hard copy and file them away.
2. Save them on soft copy and store them on disk.
3. Publish them daily or weekly onto your website or blog.
4. Publish them on article directories on the web.
5. Write a limericks ebook and market it via the internet or other marketing methods.
6. Write a daily or weekly newsletter and post it on your blog.
I opted for a few of the above options, viz option 3 (Blog or Website) and 5 (Ebook).
Firstly, with option 3, you need to create a blog and/or website first. If you are not going to sell your limericks, posting them onto a blog site is ideal, because there is no requirement for money transfers. One does have to market your blog though, because obviously you want as many people to enjoy the fruits of your work. An example of my blog, called Limericks Galore can be viewed here..... http://limericksgalore.blogspot.com/
Marketing your blog raises new challenges, and here are some ways to do this.
1. Create a signature on your email and include the blog name.
2. Send out your blog name via email to everyone you know.
3. Create a newsletter and send it out regularly with your blog address included.
4. Join forums and advertise your blog there.
5. Send out survey to get feedback on your blog.
6. Publish articles and make reference to your blog.
The Ebook option is an excellent way of marketing your limericks, or any topic for that matter. Ebook writing, compiling and marketing is a huge topic but there is an amazing amount of information on the internet about this. Ebooks can be converted to hard copy, if you so desire.
Sample pages of my three ebooks that I have completed can be found on my blog, as well as on my website. Feel free to check it out. http://sites.google.com/site/peteslimericks/
The content of the above article is to encourage the novice authors like myself out there who are searching for ways to advertise and publish their work. I am also a beginner and am finding out new things every day about ebook writing, publishing and marketing methods on the internet.
Good Luck!

Shakespeare knew how to work an audience. To successfully engage an audience made up of a variety of people with different tastes, backgrounds, and abilities, Shakespeare had to write plays that would speak to many different kinds of people at once. He didn't assume a lowest-common-denominator approach and write plays that presented endless scenes of action strung together by only the thinnest of plots. He didn't write plodding, introspective, and self-indulgent discourses that demanded patience and restraint from the audience.

A Limerick is a 5 line poem. The end of Line 1,2 and 5 will rhyme, while line 3 and 4 rhyme. The end sounds of lines 1,2,5 are different to that of lines 3,4. Limerick writing is an art, but does require a structured approach when planning the words that rhyme, and the number of syllables in each sentence. There are many types of limericks. Some are serious and more difficult to write, while the humorous ones are more fun and easier to produce. I would suggest that a novice limerick writer start by writing funny limericks, because of the variety, and it makes it fun, interesting and challenging.
