In fact, from 2000 to 2009, major cruise ship lines launched 84 new cruise ships, each of which employ between 500 to 1500 crew and staff. Do the math and that works out to 85,000 new cruise ship jobs created in that time. Yes, the cruise industry is booming, and with baby boomers now entering retirement and taking more vacations, it will likely be continuing trend. 

Cruise ship jobs are extremely diverse, from engine room employees, to casino dealers, to dance hosts, to hotel managers. With all the amenities and services on a cruise ship, the opportunities can seem endless. The many benefits for those who pursue cruise ship work include free room and board, free meals, visiting exotic locations, meeting new people from all over the world, and much more. 

If all of this sounds exciting to you, a cruise ship career might be exactly what you need. But you need an edge, because the cruise ship job market is getting quite competitive. WIth the economy and job market slumping so heavily, cruise ship careers are becoming more and more sought after on a steadily increasing basis.
