The former Portuguese colony of Macao is a bridge between a booming China and the mining industry in the rest of the world, and particularly Portuguese-speaking, or Lusophone, countries. It is appropriate, therefore, that the XX Macao and ASIA Miner – the exploration exchange will be held in the thriving business centre of Macao on June 4 and 5, 2008. Mining is playing an increasing role in trade as China seeks out more natural resources and the Lusophone Africa countries provide many possibilities.
