Calling abroad to chat with family and friends can prove to be a costly business. Catching up with the latest gossip or spreading some happy news has to wait until cheap rates apply or you have time to buy a phone card.

It’s no longer the case where our landline is the only way to keep in touch, with the advent of the Internet, VoIP companies offer international calls to many destinations for free or at very low rates. As long as you have a computer, VoIP companies offer perfect calling solutions, charging either extremely low rates or calls for free, depending on the destination.

You could always carry a phone card around with you. Purchase one for the balance you require type in the number and talk until your credit has expired. They can be used anywhere, even on your mobile.

But what if we want to call and are not at home, near to our landline or don’t have a phone card with us? We would wish that we could use our mobiles to call overseas. We use our mobiles for everything these days. They are no longer a luxury they have become a necessity, a way of keeping in touch with our friends and family on a day to day basis. They can be used to take pictures and send them, send and receive emails and text messages, even games can be played on your mobile these days. So wouldn’t it be perfect if we could also use them to make an international call and not be charged the earth for this service?

There are good options available. One such option is to set up an account with a cheap calls provider who specializes in cheap calls abroad. Ensure they allow calls from mobiles.

If you look online you will find a few providers that offer this service. 18185, call18866, MobileCalls.net and Rebtel are all providers offering cheap International mobile calls. The process is pretty simple, you register your mobile number with them, when you want to call overseas you enter a local rate access number and then dial your overseas number. Talk as long as you like! If you have relatives in Australia and you live in the UK, for example, this would be ideal for you.

The charges you should expect are the low rates for the international calls (if they are not free) and the cost of the local call rate. If you already have free minutes on your mobile then there won’t even be a local call rate to pay.

If you have free minutes available on your mobile these will cover the cost of the local rate call. You then get billed for the overseas call. Some countries are free to call so if your country and your friends’ or families countries are both listed as free, for example between the UK and Australia, then there is no charge apart from the local rate call. If you already have free minutes on your mobile then there won’t even be a local call rate to pay.

Services such as these come with many benefits. There will be no start up fee, no set up fees and no line charges. There are no restrictions whereby you have to stay with the company for a certain period of time, you simply add credit and once the credit has been used up it is up to you if you add more credit and continue using the service.

If you do have family or friends overseas and are currently either spending a fortune letting them know you care, or simply not calling as often as you would like, then check out cheap international mobile calls providers online and see the savings you can make.
