Any successful and meritorious project will necessarily include effective project management. Project management is the accurate planning of resources and their management to support so that they support the project objectives. Such resources will include infrastructure, human capital, finances and effective management tools.

Management tools are very essential for project managers in order to control and manage the project effectively. These tools help in collection of useful metrics, analysis of these metrics to draw certain conclusions and lessons, there by providing an easy way of project monitoring. If the manager cannot monitor the project properly, then the project is bound to fail.

Many types of useful management tools are available for project managers at presente. One of the most essential and important tool is practical report writing. It is really essential for any professional organization. It is useful for project managers, engineers and business executives for presenting to their reporting managers their own business reports on their area of responsibility.

A prescribed format and style is must for any professionally written report. A standard format may not be suitable to every organization but every organisation can have its own prescribed format. A professional report should have all the essential details related to the content being submitted. For instance, a testing report should contain details such as the testing strategy used, the needed resources, tools, the kind of test cases that were used to test, results of the testing and a final conclusion for the report.

All over the world, project managers utilize this tool when they are reporting on the status of their projects to their managers. Maintaining consistent and regular project reports will also make it easier for a new manager to pick up the reins. Effective management tools should therefore be a priority for any professional organization, and it makes excellent business sense to ensure employees are trained in the necessary skills to write good reports.

Practical report writing is just a part of the useful tools package, which doesn't require much of investment. There are a lot of other important tools which can be very expensive. Even though they are very expensive, an organization should not compromise on investing into these effective tools. Effective tools usage simplifies project management and paves the way for successful project execution.
