Mud pack is widely used clay therapy due to its several health benefits. The nature cure therapists are adopting mud therapy to body in wounds, boils, bruises and other diseases along with suitable diet and therapies. It is more useful than the cold packs, as it retains the coolness and moisture in the body for long time. Other benefits of mud pack are, it absorb toxins from the body. It relaxes the skin pores, and draws the blood to the skin, and relieves the congestion and discomfort and pain and eliminates the morbid matter. It increases the heat radiation.

The mud pack is prepared after obtaining clay from 10 cm below the surface of earth. The clay obtained must not contain harmful materials or chemicals. The clay is made as a smooth paste with warm water, after removing impurities and it is allowed to cool and later it is spread on a cloth piece. The duration is 10 minutes to half an hour.

Clay pack or mud pack is highly beneficial treatment in nervous diseases, weakness, fever, scarlet fever, influenza, measles, swellings, ear and eye troubles, rheumatism, gout, liver and kidney troubles, tooth ache, head ache, and general body aches. It is also useful in abdominal diseases as indigestion and bowel diseases. It promotes labor pains. It is also applied after fomentation to the body for about 15 minutes.

Mud pack reduces the swelling of any part of the body. In case of high fever, the temperature can be brought down with the help of clay pack. It has to be changed frequently till the desired lowering of temperature is effected.
