Our noses give our faces character. It often becomes the object of scrutiny when we look in the mirror and, occasionally, defines us. Nose shape and size is generally decided by genetics and can be influenced by cultural heritage. However, in the melting pot of Los Angeles, the definition of beauty definitely does not include an oversized nose. Here, in the land of movie stars and delicate-featured beach beauties, cultural beauty takes a back seat to local vanity.

Those pursuing the dream of acting or a modeling career here can ill afford to look out of proportion. For many young women considering Nose Surgery in Los Angeles, it is a rite of passage that is done as an eighteenth birthday present.

Nose Surgeries, or a “Rhinoplasty”, are the second most popular type of Plastic Surgery performed in this country. Why? Because the nose is hard to avoid. We look at it every day. Some are so bothered by their nose’s appearance that it ruins their self-esteem and makes living a happy life difficult. So even though thousands of Los Angeles Nose Surgeries are done for medical reasons every year, such as issues with a deviated septum, snoring and broken noses, the majority of Nose Surgeries are done to correct another issue altogether: a person’s self image. A Los Angeles Nose Surgeon knows that making a small difference in your appearance can make a big difference in the way you feel about yourself. Many people have spent their whole lives feeling unsatisfied with their appearance and have thought about doing a “nose job” since they were old enough to look in a mirror.

Caitlin Hubbard of Culver City had long been dissatisfied with her nose. She’d inherited her father’s hook and though friends assured her it wasn’t bad, she felt otherwise. She wanted her outsides to match the inside. She wanted to feel pretty and she didn’t. When she turned twenty-four, she decided it was time to do something about it. Her first step was deciding who to go to for her Nose Surgery. Looking for a Los Angeles Nose Surgeon offered her a myriad of choices, but instead of going to a cosmetic surgeon she’d seen advertised in the media, Caitlin listened to her friends and chose a Board-Certified Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon in Beverly Hills who had thousands of Nose Surgeries on his resume and plenty of before and after pictures for her to look at.

Finding a Los Angeles Nose Surgeon who is not only board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) but specializes in Nose Surgery is critical to successful Nose Surgery. There are plenty of doctors out there who call themselves “cosmetic surgeons” who want to cash in on the plastic surgery craze, but they’re only trained in general surgery or dermatology. Signing up with one of those, even for the sake of cheaper surgery, will only be asking for trouble – or a second surgery to fix the botched first one. Nose Surgery can cost between $3,000 to $8,000 depending on the complexity of the operation and where it’s done. But your face is not the place to scrimp on cost, or to choose the cheapest surgeon for the job.

Caitlin’s board-certified Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon sat her down and explained what he could do for her. He showed her what her reduced-sized nose would look like and explained that while he was doing the nose, a chin implant procedure could be done at the same time to balance her overall look. He could do that later, but that would be a more expensive way to go. Caitlin was thrilled with what she saw. But her Los Angeles Nose Surgeon gave her a dose of reality, too. He explained the risks of surgery and reminded her that Nose Surgery was not going to instantly “fix” her. “Changing your nose will not, by itself, change your life. Only you can do that,” he said. “What I can do is to put your features in balance and harmony.” With her expectations in check, Caitlin scheduled her Nose Surgery.

Her Nose Surgery was done as outpatient surgery in an accredited surgery facility. He sculpted her nose using a closed procedure that left no scars visible on the outside of the nose. He also inserted a small chin implant to balance her new face.

After packing her nose for 24 hours, Caitlin had that removed and was able to breathe normally. She wore a splint for a week and within a couple of more weeks, the swelling went away. It took almost a year, though, to see the full end result of the Nose Surgery. But it was all worth it. Today, Caitlin smiles when she looks in the mirror. Is Nose Surgery for you? Take a look at photographs from the eighteen hundreds and you’ll see some tired-looking, road-weary faces: no cosmetics, facials, moisturizer or sunscreen available. And certainly nothing that resembled today’s Facelift. Los Angeles might have, per capita, the most beautiful people in the country. Movie stars, millionaires and moms in Mercedes. Okay, L.A.’s obsession with beauty may be the exception to the rule in the rest of America, but certainly, it has more than its fair share of a procedure Los Angeles Plastic Surgeons call ‘Liposuction.’ According to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Liposuction was the number one procedure in 2007 for both men and women. Over 456,000 such procedures were done that year. And a good portion of those were done right in Los Angeles.
