Since its beginnings centuries ago in the Scottish Highlands (or possibly Scandinavia), golf had been an activity that promotes both physical and psychological well-being. OC golf is a popular activity that allows one to get out in the open air, get a bit of cardiovascular exercise and even socialize.

With a mild climate similar to that of the Mediterranean, Orange County is possibly the orange capital of the world. Home for centuries to tribes of Penutian-speaking Indians, the area offers spectacular views of both the ocean and the Mountains as well as lush gardens and interesting archtitecture ranging from Victorian and Spanish Colonial to modern. In such a setting, it's small wonder people enjoy OC golf.

For example, there is excellent OC golf to be played at any one of the excellent courses located at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, which protect the relatively humid Los Angeles Basin from the arid Mojave Desert.

A great number of OC golf courses are to be found in and around Pasadena, offering play suitable for a range of abilities from novice to pro. Pasadena is of course home to the Rose Bowl as well as some excellent examples of the "Mission Style" architecture that was popular in the U.S. during the first decades of the last century.

Another mecca for OC golf aficionados is Mission Viejo, the "Old Mission." The city's origins date from a Spanish land grant made to a nobleman over two hundred years ago; the same local terrain that made it suitable for the early rancheros lends itself to excellent golf.

Fullerton is located in northern Orange County, and was the center of the citrus industry. Today, the city is home to many fine academic institutions, as well as a number of excellent OC golf courses. Fullerton greens feature spectacular views of the water, nearby mountains and local fauna, making for attractive surroundings in which to enjoy OC golf.

OC golf is also convenient to Los Angeles itself. If you live in Los Angeles or are planning to be in the area, you'll find that OC golf is right in the neighborhood. Most OC golf courses are within 30 minutes of the Los Angeles Airport - and a good round of golf could be just the thing to shake off that jet lag or have a good stretch after being cooped up in an airline seat for two hours or more.

With its world-class golf greens located in one of the most beautiful areas in the country and a mild year-round climate, OC golf is a wonderful way to spend a weekend, or relax after a hectic work week.
