Oily Skin- A Trouble?

Oily skin is a big trouble for many of us. Why our skin oozes more oils than others is a big mystery for the sufferers. The skin attracts more dirt and is more prone to acne. it has shining look and causes all types of cosmetic problems. Why do we have that kind of skin? Can we do something to eliminate this problem forever? Let us find out.

Skin- Why Does It Produce Oils?

Our skin produces sebum. This sebum is mainly made of lipids. The sebum protects us from microbial infections and keeps our skin moist. Along with sebum, we also produce sweat. Our skin also sheds dead skin cells. All these combine and form a layer on the skin. Those who have oily skin, produce more of sebum. Hormones mainly activate the sebum production and some of us are genetically conditioned to produce more oils. You should talk with your doctor if anything can be done with the hormones.

Oily Skin Management-

To manage oily skin the only common way is to use oil free products. Wash your face at least twice a day with soap. Use oil absorbing blotting papers. Use more of powder products. Astringents will remove lot of oil and so do the toners. Look after your oily skin because you will get fewer wrinkles than those who have dry skin. They will envy you after some years.

Winter is just around the corner and the cold weather can play havoc on the skin. Every season we should evaluate our skin care routine. For instance, during the winter months the sebaceous (oil) glands produce less oil; thus for those with oily skin during the summer months they may find some relief from excess oil during the winter. However for those of us with combination skin or dry skin, the winter months dry out the skin even more.
Who isn't concerned about aging? Aging is one of the most talked about subjects in the world. Why is this so? Because we are a society that takes great pride in having a nice and attractive appearance. Even though aging affects all of us a little differently, we all basically go through the same process. Aging is a very natural process. As natural as living and dying. As we age, our skin gets less firm. Wrinkles and fine lines start to develop. Most prominently in the areas of our skin that are used the most.
Myths and truths about laser treatments revealed here! Myth 1: I'm only in my 20s or 30s so I don't need laser treatments. Fact: According to Dr Dana Elliott, doing a laser treatment is similar to giving your skin a work out, which keeps it in peak condition. It is better to prevent than cure. So, if you start your treatments now, your face will retain its youthfulness 10 years or more down the road.
New lasers now may or may not remove the top layers of skin and they are more targeted and less invasive, causing less tissue damage. An example is the Erbium laser which I am trying today. According to Dr Elliott, this laser has exfoliating properties which is good for acne and it also has skin tightening benefits.
How does IPL Photorejuvenation work? The flash lamp produces light which is carefully filtered before it reaches the skin. This ensures that only light of the correct wavelength is allowed to touch the skin.
Laser treatments are all the rage these days and they can help you achieve flawless skin. Here's a review of a laser treatment called Pixel Skin Resurfacing: Dr Z first examines Carol's face to assess her skin condition. Noting that she has some skin pigmentation and very light scars, he says that he will give her a mild laser treatment suitable for her skin type. She is then taken to a room where a numbing cream is applied and left on for 20 minutes to minimise discomfort during the treatment process.
What happens to your skin as you get older? Age 25 - Visible aging of the skin starts and the skin replaces old cells more slowly. Age 30 - More fine lines develop as collagen and elastin start to break down and the delicate skin under the eyes begins to thin.
