You’re getting ready to face the board with your annual budget assessment and projections in hand. Convincing those individuals to allot enough funds to prepare your company for its future on the web may be a daunting task. Assisting the board in understanding where the online world is headed and how vital it is to stay ahead of the competition is key.

In your role as CTO, it’s critical that you bridge the gap of understanding between the technical jargon and the daily business transactions in your company. Having a clear understanding of where technology is headed is a must. As the technical world dives deeper into the online ocean, a CTO must have a clear vision of how the company is going to stay afloat and thrive in a very large pond.

Everyone’s goal in a company is basically the same; to make money. A CTO must know the technologies that will lead their company to success. More and more, CTO’s are working closer with the CEO to ensure there company is headed in the correct direction.

Website optimization has been put on the top of the list when it comes to the CTO’s duties. Ensuring the correct technology is in place and the correct resources are allocated to doing so is crucial. The prediction that the online market will not slow down, but instead gain speed is something to pay attention to. The CTO should see to it that their company is capable of handling that task today and in the upcoming future.

At the end of the day, a CTO doesn’t want to have to be burdened with reactive problems – like the new site he just got the board’s approval on going down. Technology should be put into place beforehand to ensure those problems never arise. Whether it’s applying the correct applications or having the correct website monitoring, proactive solutions can be administered to make certain the business is technically sound.

One hurdle that you may encounter when you print online is the file requirement. Have you come across terms such as EPS, TIFF, PDF, GIF and JPEG? Did they add to your confusion instead of helping you understand what goes into a good printing result? Sometimes, seeing these terms add up to the ‘seeming’ complexity of converting your image or graphic files into hard copies.
Finally, many people realize that once they start their online store that it isn’t nearly as complicated as they thought. Many experienced sellers tell others that the initial set up and the first few orders are difficult because you aren’t familiar with the process. Once you start selling, you may realize that you didn’t need any extra help after all.
Rapidshare hasn’t lost its touch with the masses as their favored file hosting solution on the internet but most of the people are peeved over the fact that they have significantly minimized their download-quota. They are chiefly indignated over two points. Firstly, they feel that free Rapidshare download quota should not have been reduced for premium users. Secondly, they believe that free users should not have faced the hard-hitting speed decrease.

Just what is "web 3.0"? What steps are moving us towards a new type of web? What advantage will this new type of web provide? This article is a look at what steps are being taken to make the web more semantic and easier to access programatically and covers several companies that are now offering solutions to help existing website owners make their content more accessible and semantic.
A model worth investigating is charging people to put content on your website, or earning money from other people’s content. To do this you need to convince interested parties that your site is the best option for them, that they will get the best exposure from your site. Not surprisingly, you need a site that has a high flow of traffic.
If money makes the world go round, then having your website up and running is crucial. The amount of revenue that is affected every time your services aren't available online is staggering. Let's take a look at Google as an example. Googles' net earning in a recent quarter were $1.2billion. Assuming GOOG has uniform traffic over a 24 hour period a .01 per cent downtime would cost them $480,000 per year. I don't think even Google wants to lose that pocket change.
