The temperature will slightly rise during your ovulation period. This happened because of the increasing levels of progesterone in your body. During an ovulation process, an increase in 0.4-0.6 degrees is common. Also note that after successfully becoming pregnant by the 2nd week your body temperature will remain on a higher side (slightly) throughout the pregnancy period.
A basal thermometer can be used to record the basal temperature. The best time to record your basal temperature is to record it in the morning before getting out of your bed for different physical activities alter your body temperature and you will not get the right temperature in that case.
