If you call long-distance very often, you should expect to pay a lot on your telephone bill. Granted, there are some telephone plans that will incorporate long distance within the overall fee, but the long distance is still limited. For example, you may be able to make unlimited long distance calls within the United States, but you will still have to pay astronomical fees if you make international calls. Fortunately, if you decide to get VOIP along with HughesNet Satellite Internet from a Direct TV dealer, you can make unlimited long distance calls all over the world at nominal fees.

Now, at this point you might be wondering what VOIP is and why you would need to get Satellite Internet to use it. Well, VOIP (which stands for Voice-Over-Internet-Protocol) is a technology that allows you to make telephone calls over the Internet and/or use verbal communication in Instant Messaging sessions or in chat rooms. The effectiveness of VOIP directly depends on the Internet connection one has. If a person is using dial-up, their VOIP communication will be full of static and not ongoing. However, if a person uses Satellite Internet, talking to someone through VOIP would really be no different than talking to a person on the telephone.

There are other advantages to Satellite Internet as well. In comparison to dial-up, Satellite Internet is incredibly fast, allowing a person to download files at 700 mbps. In addition, Satellite Internet allows more than one computer to be online at the same time. In fact, such a feature even works with VOIP as well. With a VOIP/Satellite Internet combination, no longer will family members have to argue over who gets to use the Internet or the phone, because everyone will have equal access to both. Best of all the increased convenience is available without having to worry about installing extra phone lines.

So, what should a person expect to pay if they decide to get VOIP and Satellite Internet? Well, the basic home package for HughesNet Satellite Internet from a Direct TV dealer is $99. However, VOIP packages will vary depending on the provider. Some providers charge a monthly subscription fee. A common price is $25 or less a month, which is still cheaper than many telephone services. These tend to be the best packages, because you get unlimited long distance at an extremely low cost without extra phone line related fees.

For people who don’t use long distance that much, there is the option to go with a VOIP provider that uses a calling card system. Basically, you pay for a certain number of minutes; it’s usually very generous. When the minutes get used up, you’ll have to pay again. Now, this may seem more expensive but, if you don’t talk on the phone much, it’s possible that your overall telephone bills will be $5 or less each month.

In conclusion, if you want to save on your telephone bill along with acquiring the ability to surf on the Internet fast, consider getting VOIP and Satellite Internet. The most money you’ll pay is for the Internet portion, but the investment is still minimal, considering all that you get back.
