How do you determine your current fitness and wellness status? You doctor do not ask you every time you visit, the level of your fitness or wellness. How do you know if you are fit or if you are well? How can you measure the two?

It is important to know that being fit and being well is two entirely and mutually exclusive conditions. However, they are both essential in maintaining optimum health and vitality.

Many of us do not take the time to properly understand what is meant by being fit and being well. We don't even know what it takes to be fit and what it takes to be well.

Your fitness level can be reasonably be tested by a fitness counselor or certified fitness instructor at the local gym or fitness club.

Optimum functioning immune systems can determine you state of wellness. Vitamins supplementation and nutrition are also good indicators of your wellness. It is not uncommon for a fit person to be unwell and a very well person to be unfit. However, a state of balance is achieved when both wellness and fitness are at optimum levels in an individual body.

Nutritional intake directly affects our body's ability and the minds ability to remain well. This coupled with clean living, healthy eating, regular exercise will no doubt compliment that state of total fitness and wellness.

Spirituality is another important element when determining our wellness level. Spiritual reflection allows one to cleanse the body of the toxins of our daily life. Wellness is like an envelop that holds our complete state of being, mind and health. It's a condition of the whole mind, body and soul.

Finally, those who bound on keeping fit should also consider and pay close attention to their wellness and staying well. The ideal balance is struck when both are in sync and both are given equal attention. This is the only way to achieve a long, well, fit and healthy lifestyle.

With so much going on in the news lately about healthcare and medicine I couldn't resist putting together a quiz about medicine, health care, and other medical related topics. In the news today I read about the senate and the health care reform, swine flu vaccine recalls, and promising new cancer treatments.
Baby boomers might not have a corner on the marketplace for an urgent wish to stay youthful, but they certainly have set a high standard for making a virtual avalanche of products and services to attend to that need. The quest to look young for boomers has resulted in an increase of earnings within the cosmetic and cosmetic surgery markets. It's straightforward to criticize the need of baby boomers to want to see themselves as youthful as simple vanity. However it goes a lot deeper than that.
People may be more likely to drink alcohol and eat foods high in salt, fat or sugar, while exercise programs fall by the wayside. Willpower tends to take a back seat during the holidays, but for people with hypertension, the damage of unhealthy eating can have particularly negative consequences.
There are many courses of action that an individual can take to maintain or increase their level of physical health. Some of those actions include eating a proper diet that is low in cholesterol, rich in fiber and a decrease in sugar consumption. In addition, a proper diet should be at the appropriate level of calorie consumption to either maintain or decrease one's weight.
Just as the advent of regular postal deliveries changed communications drastically, so has the use of the Internet and the World Wide Web. With the use of electronic communications, including digital imagery and other types of data, communications are now much quicker and more cost effective. A web-based PACS brings this type of lightning speed and ease of use to a medical facility as well.
RIS is a software database that enables radiology departments to archive and distribute both digital medical images as well as other types of data such as patient scheduling, tracking and reporting. When used together, they greatly improve the workflow for any radiology department in a small or large medical facility.
This process is already going on at large for-profit medical centers and major university hospitals; however, for smaller health care facilities and non-profits, often the decision is more complex. This is particularly true of specialty clinics and radiology facilities that focus on one type of medical issue and a single type of modality. Is it better to go with a mini-PACS that serves present needs and deal with the problem of integration when it comes, or should the facility make the costly investment of a full PACS-RIS?
