South Devon has a number of things to offer anyone who lives there as well as anyone who visits for a holiday. Among the most famous areas that they have to offer are sandy beaches for one to relax and enjoy. This is what many people do also when they come to South Devon.

Bigbury Bay

The first well noted beach of South Devon would be the Bigbury Bay. From this beach one can check out Burgh Island and experience the rock pools. The Pilchard Inn is most frequently the choice as to where people prefer to stay as it used to hold smugglers back in the day. Windsurfing, kite surfing, and body boarding keep active young bodies busy for hours on end.

Mill Bay

Mill Bay is another frequently visited beach. One can reach this beach through East Portlemouth. Those who like cars go to the National Trust car park while others enjoy the beach shops while car lovers find cars that they would love to have. A ferry to Salcombe can be ridden to the little town.

South Sands

South Sands is located next to Salcombe. Many people enjoy the picnic area that this place has to offer while others prefer the other tourist places that this beach has to offer. Inside one will find a children’s museum that many visit during the summer months. There children look for a ghost that the museum has named Fred while the adults tour the museum. At this beach, many prefer to hire a canoe for a nice canoe ride or catch the ferry to Salcombe.

Take a Trip

The Round Robin Trip of South Devon often starts in either Totnes or Dartmouth and one travels around by way of a double decker bus, steam train, ferry, and boat. Some prefer to use this form of traveling for two hours while others take a whole day to stop off at all the little stops to see all that South Devon has to offer.

Castles

Castles are in abundance in South Devon. The most well noted castle would have to be Dartmouth Castle. Dartmouth Castle was used in the year of 1491 as a gun tower where cannons were fired. The castle dates back to the fourteenth century. Other famous castles can be spotted around South Devon if one is in search of such an old attractive site.

Sports

Others enjoy the use of the sports that South Devon has to offer. One such sport is golf. Looking around South Devon, one can spot many different golf courses that match your skill level. The country club in Dartmouth is probably the most acclaimed golf course that South Devon has. With this in mind, one might find the right place to eat around Dartmouth as fine dining is a grand aspect of the South Devon culture. No one leaves South Devon hungry.

With being so easily located, South Devon opens doors to the local towns and allows one to feel at home. The traditions that one sees keep many people coming back. Make South Devon trips a tradition for you!
