The venue was a small movie theatre in New Jersey. The orchestrator was James Vicary. The subjects were unknowing movie goers. The experiment was 0.03 second subliminal messages and the claims were outrageous!

James Vicary claimed that by flashing subliminal messages to the movie audience instructing them to purchase coca cola and popcorn that the sales of these products were significantly increased.

Even though Vicary's experiment was "unsubstantiated", was immediately refuted by scientists, and has never been successfully replicated, it caused panic in certain government circles, starting with William Dawson, which quickly spread to the public. This unfounded hysteria soon lead to a banning of subliminal advertising on television and radio.

Although the 1957 study was openly called a 'gimmick' by Vicary himself, in a 1962 interview with Advertising Age, the belief in the power of subliminal messages to affect our behaviour lingers. Why?

Perhaps part of the answer lies in some 1957 subliminal messages experiments conducted by a very large and powerful organization.

It is well known that the CIA take great interest in mind altering research. It should not be a surprise then to find out that they conducted their own studies into
subliminal messages!

The experiments conducted by the CIA were created to ascertain whether subliminal messages could be successfully employed as a form of brain-washing!

In a 1958 CIA journal, "The Operational Potential of Subliminal Perception ",
Is a full review of their findings into the use of subliminal messages. Martin A. Lee, a journalist and activist, wrote the article, "The CIA's Subliminal Seduction," in 1980 for High Times. He quotes a former, anonymous, CIA agent as saying that the CIA were fully committed to investigate whether subliminal messages could be used to influence the outcome of a political campaign. They had a keen interest in using television and radio as a conduit for subliminal messages.

The declassified CIA journal has a disconcerting entry where it is stated that it might be possible for the word "Obey" to be used in their subliminal programs.

Although we have no way of knowing whether the CIA ever stopped their investigations into subliminal messages we do know that it is prevalent in advertising. It is also used frequently in self improvement fields as a tool for self change. Subliminal messages are used in a variety of personal development products.

A woman I know, an extremely spiritual person, recently shared with me the following: 'I used to have unfortunate beliefs about myself and I received back from external influences unfortunate results. When I decided to take control and raise my resonance, to be the change I wanted to become, to allow abundance and love come flow through me, absolutely everything fell into place. I am now living a life of leisure with a beautiful husband and I can draw what I want into my universe at will.'
There are many people that just can't stop lying. In order to avoid the truth this path is chosen. A lie that is said for someone's benefit is to cheat another. However there are some people that always lie, meaning that they are looked upon as liars for everything and anything that they might say. Anyone who has the habit of lying continuously is called as compulsive liar. It is a condition where a person is just unable to speak the truth, even if he tries to put it in a simple and truthful way there happens to be a point at which he will be unable to continue with the harsh truths and in order to avoid this he will start it all again with lying.
Success and happiness are not often thought to co-exist in today•fs society. As people work harder to accomplish more successful careers and more expensive toys, they find themselves unhappy with their lives. This is largely due to imbalance. People are spending entirely too much time working to be successful and not nearly enough time with family and stopping to smell the roses. These poor habits began in the nineties, and are being passed down to the next generation. But as young people, you can start planning now to have both success and happiness in your life as you grow older.
Totalitarianism has been tried many times and it essentially fails because human beings will in all ways subvert a singular narrative that is imposed by force. The fates of the totalitarian states of the last century illustrate this. Authority, the power to dominate the minds and bodies of humanity, has solved this problem by creating and dispersing a deadly form of freedom.
Subliminal programming, despite its seemingly strange connotations, is actually more widespread than most people realize. Everyday, whether you believe it or not, we are subjected to large doses of this covert persuasion. But now, I'm going to share with you the gist of the game so that you'll no longer have to carry on unknowingly.
Now that we have an economic crisis looming above our heads, learning how to motivate your employees without money becomes more important than ever. Doing this can help you improve the overall performance of your employees. It will encourage them to work ever harder and strive for the company's goals.
Do you ever ponder the meaning of life? Why are we here? Perhaps these questions surface when we receive news we'd rather not receive, the passing of an uncle, a beloved aunt, a friend's spouse who died for the wrong reason. I'm not sure I believe myself when I justify the news by saying this is the circle of life.
