The Evolutions of Computers

Early computers were actually of the size of a large room, and consuming as much power as several hundred modern PCs. Modern computers are based on tiny integrated circuits and are millions to billions of times more capable than they were in the past, and obviously take much less space.

The ability for computers to store and execute lists of different programs makes them obviously very versatile and distinguishes them from the simple calculators. They are obviously made of far more complex elements than those calculators like video cards, hard disks and central processing units.

The first computers did not have any floppy disk driver or CD or even DVD driver.

The floppy disk as only has been around since roughly the end of the sixties and was invented by IBM and could only store around one hundred and forty kilo bytes.

As for the compact disc more usually called CD, they were first put in the market around the eighties. They were then later adapted to become CD-ROMs which mean Compact Disc read-only memory, and could then store up to seven hundred and forty seven mega bytes.

The Digital Versatile Discs better known as DVDs were developed at the beginning of the nineties. They have a bigger storage capacity that can go up to seventeen mega bytes for some of them.

Needless to say that nowadays, the market of CD duplication, DVD duplication or even CD and DVD replication is doing much better than the duplication and replication of floppy disk that has nearly disappeared.

As far as computers are concerned, they have been evolving over the past years since the first personal computer was launched in the market. Since then, you can find desktop computers that are the evolutions of the first personal computers. But also laptop computers that are much smaller and easy to carry around than desktops and especially designed for mobility and contain batteries to facilitate their operation everywhere.

On top of all that, you can now find tablet computers as small as laptops but which usually have touch screens or graphics tablets hybrid technology that would allow the user to operate the device with a digital pen instead of using a keyboard or a mouse.

But that is not all... You can now see ultra-mobile, home theatre or pocket computers everywhere. All of those computers can be used along side different devices such as printers, scanners or even webcams that are as well evolving.

Multitasking is essential to even possibly get all of these things done in a timely manner and it seems more and more of the tasks you carry out need to be done so on your computer. This is why most people are willing to do whatever they can to speed their computer up and that is when they start to look in to computer memory. It is commonly accepted that the history of modern computing technology was born out of the code breaking efforts of the Allied forces during World War II. That being said, very few modern computer users ever think about how their computer actually works, much less the journey that technology took to bring them their computer. Instead they email, chat, write, computer, listen to music, and edit photos in blissful ignorance. However, take a moment the next time you are waiting for a page to load and think about not only how your desktop computer works, but how it came out of the government laboratories and into your home.
When we talk about a desktop computer, we are referring to a computer that is not normally moved around a lot. Usually it is used in one place for an extended period of time. Desktops are bigger and heavier than laptops. Compared to laptops they used to have superior computing power, but this is no longer necessarily the case.
A desktop computer is also known as a PC or personal computer. This type of computer is deigned for use in a single location such as a home or office, as opposed to a laptop or notebook computer which is designed for travel. The first computers were gigantic and took up entire rooms, so with the invention of the first desktop computers, these were considered small in size even though they outsize modern computers considerably.
If you have just purchased a desktop computer, you may have opened the box and wondered what next. If you need help in setting up your desktop computer, then try the following steps.
Accompanying the current Internet revolution, the wireless revolution is also having a profound impact on the way people work and live. Today, more people in Europe have a mobile phone than a PC or a car.
