The One Problem I Had With A Tempurpedic Mattress

In 1992 Tempurpedic mattresses were imported into the US by CEO Bob Trussell from Sweden where they were first made out of special viscoelastic (temperature sensitive) foam that was originally invented by NASA to use in their space program and perfected in Sweden over a decade of research.

Trussell tried one of the mattresses and fell in love with it and became the exclusive US distributor of the Tempurpedic foam mattress and began selling them through magazine and TV ads and specialty stores like Brookstone's with sales growing by 49% per year for the first 10 years of the company's existence.

I was a happy user of their Tempurpedic pillow and after over 12 years of use it still feels like new. But, the mattress was a different story as they were way out of my price range.

Well, about 8 years ago we needed a new mattress and to make a long story short my wife and I tried two traditional mattresses and one name brand air mattress over a period of several years before we gave up and took Tempurpedic up on their "try it at home" offer.

At first it was strange feeling sinking down into the mattress and it seemed more comfortable than the other mattresses but the thing we both noticed was we were waking up with backaches that lasted for a couple of hours every morning.

After sleeping on it for a few weeks I called Tempurpedic and I was told that if you sleep or your side you most likely will have a backache in the morning because you sleep so sound you don't roll over much.

Great I thought, we still haven't found a good nights sleep but the customer service rep said the aches would go away after a few weeks. For me that wasn't true, it took several months but I have to tell you that it was worth the wait because now we sleep great and have been for years thanks to the Tempurpedic mattress.

What's extra nice is that you don't have to flip it, it's hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant (yuk). And, it lasts for 20 years so if you look at it that way it's no more expensive than a normal mattress and box spring set as they usually don't last nearly that long.

In the summer it's a little softer than I like it but it's still great and in the winter it's firmer (we keep the house cool at night) but after a couple of minutes you just seem to melt into the bed and it feels wonderful.

Be forewarned if you are thinking of buying a foam mattress as not all foam is created equal. Cheaper foam can be both too soft in summers and too hard in winters. There's a reason good foam costs more so be sure and check out the type of foam used in the mattress you are considering.

Because of the popularity of the Tempurpedic mattress many retail stores now carry them so it can be as easy as driving to your favorite furniture store to try one out which is something I heartily recommend you do.

We all know that children are typically challenged when it comes to cleaning, so start your youngster off right with kids furniture that's quite simple to keep clean. When hunting for a kids bedroom set or playroom furniture it's a terrific idea to consider furnishings made of wood. Wooden kids furniture is likely to be built solid and is usually covered in a robust stain that will keep every single piece looking beautiful and new for years. But don't merely rely on the finish to keep the furniture looking good when you can do some things along the way to make sure that your kid's bed, dresser, nightstand and other furnishings will remain attractive and scratch free.
Now known as a convenient, inexpensive way to furnish almost any room in the home, futons have been in use in some form for many centuries. Though Asia, the Japanese in particular, are credited with using the first futons, the use of similar convenient, cotton beds can be traced to ancient Egypt, Babylon and Mesopotamia. These ancient yet advanced civilizations chose cotton because it is comfortable year round, keeping people warm during the winter and cool during the summer.
The many benefits of a good night's sleep cannot be overstressed. To this end, we often invest in expensive beds, high quality mattresses and even more frequently, luxurious bed linens. Nothing seems to make the world slip away faster than settling into a cozy bed and cuddling in our soft cotton or silk bed sheets. Interestingly, as enjoyable as this experience is, most of us do not take the time to preserve our investments in our luxury bed linen. By following a few simple steps you can maintain the quality of your bed linen investment.
Once upon a time, futons were considered cheap furnishings relegated to the kids' room or finished basement. As consumers realized how versatile, functional and comfortable futons are, the futon's place in the home became more prominent. Now these sofa bed alternatives are proudly displayed in the living rooms, dens and offices of even the highest end homes and businesses.
Good value and cheapest price are not the same thing. You can still get a high quality beanbag even if you save money on the purchase. Quality beanbags last longer and look better than cheap ones. They are also more comfortable, are fuller and come in a better selection of styles, prints and colors.
