Addiction is becoming a social dilemma and "alcohol addiction" is turning into a massive problem due to the wide distribution and legal property of beverages with alcoholic content.

The noun ‘alcoholism’ has different definitions. Naturally, alcoholism is the noun that describes the condition that results from the constant intake of liquor. Medically speaking, alcoholism is described as an illness that results from a continuous drinking of alcohol in spite of several unhelpful end results.

One should not mix up the mere intake of alcoholic beverages with the clinical descriptions of alcoholism. It a fact that the meaning of alcoholism is associated with the taking in of liquor but the regularity and the amount of alcohol drinking are the important constituents that are used to determine if a person is experiencing alcoholism or not.

For example, the level of toxicity is lower when alcohol is drank after having a meal as compared to the level of toxicity when the alcohol is consumed with an empty stomach. When it comes to hydration, the level of toxicity is less if the alcohol is diluted first before intake.

The side-effects of alcohol in the human body are known to be ‘biphasic’. The term biphasic describes the side-effects of alcohol intake that changes from time to time. Alcohol initially provokes gladness and calmness. Too much intake of alcohol may lead to blurred vision and coordination difficulties. Medically, when alcohol is took in, it is delivered to the blood vessels and is discharged to every biological tissue in the human body.

(2) Blood and urine examinations: By analyzing the urine and the blood of the subjected person, the status of alcohol addiction will probably be determined. Alcohol addiction may be examined through different indicators such as macrocytosis, Gamma-GT elevation, AST and ALT ratio, and CDT elevation.

(3) Others: A number of processes including the determination of the genetic predisposition or the DSM Diagnosis are used to identify the alcohol addiction degree and the level of toxicity.

Same as the medical and psychological procedures used for substance abuse, the treatment in this case is also separated into two distinct parts which are alcoholic detoxification and advising. The mentioned treatment procedures have to be conducted at the same time. By conducting the detox procedures, the body of the person who is addicted to alcohol is cleansed.
