Learning how to walk in high heel shoes is a skill that can be acquired. It just requires a little practice. First you learn to crawl, then walk, and then you learn to walk in high heels. For many women, they think that they can just put on a pair of stilettos and go. If you’re not used to wearing them, you’ll find you’re sadly mistaken.

It’s important to understand that you won't be able to wear a 4" overnight. You have to work your way up. Start with a 2” to 3" for a while. It stretches the arch in your foot and then you can start wearing sexy shoes without problems.

A good place to start for the first day or two is to just stand in one post without moving around while wearing your high heels. The reason for this is to have a chance to get used to balancing in them, and balancing without movement is more difficult that if you were walking. You can try it several times in a day, like watching TV for a half hour while standing in you high heels. After several standing sessions of at least 15 minutes each, you’ll be ready to start practicing how to walk in high heels.

For every step you take, your heel should touch the floor first, followed by the ball of your foot and toe. You should also take slightly shorter steps than you normally would. When starting out, you might find high heels with ankle straps make it easier while learning.

As you go through the process of stretching your arch, you’ll also want to switch back to a sneaker or a pair of flats for a few hours. Then continue to wear your heels again and keep stretching the arch in order to train your feet properly for walking in sexy high heels.

There are many women that will wear a 4" heel to work, and a 5" heel in the evening. It’s not for everyone, but some women do. If you're going to train your feet, and your arches, you probably don't want a spike heel while doing it. It’s best to learn with a chunky heel while getting used to the angle. A thick 3 or 4 inch heel will be easier to walk on and get used to. And in about a month or so you'll be able to wear most high heels, sexy shoes and stilettos!

You should also note the surface or terrain you’re walking on when wearing high heels. Things like sewer grates, grass, sand, slippery surfaces are just a few to watch for. In situations such as this you would want to walk on the ball of your foot, almost like on your tiptoes, to avoid the heel from sinking into the ground.

If you want to walk in sexy high heels like the models do, you would keep your feet pointed straight ahead, and each step should be placed in front of you like you are continually stepping on a single line painted on the floor ahead of you. Also, each step should actually cross over slightly past the line on the floor to the opposite side. This helps create the sexy hip sway that catwalk models are known for.
