Transferring Songs into a Traditional MP3 Player

 By: Dennis Moore Hopkins
One very big reason as to why people buy MP3 players is because of the song features, which allows you to copy songs from other gadgets to listen on your portable player. Hence, the key question - how do I put songs on my MP3 player? This article tells you exactly how.

There are many brands of MP3 players, but they all work the same way. You would first want to check if any software was included with the device, which would be needed in order to transfer and convert files from the computer to your player, or vice-versa. If no warranty card was given, the warranty may be included in the software. You will need to fill it up so that your device is collateral assured.

Next, you will need to connect your player to your computer using a USB cord. The USB cord or a Universal Serial Bus cord works like a bus, carrying information bit by bit to its destination. In this particular scenario, you will want to transfer a song onto your player. A song in a computer is in fact made out of bits of information that appears as a song only when completely united. An incomplete file transfer would mean that the bits of information did not unite completely; hence, you will not have received the song. Thus, you will need to be patient for the transfers to be completed.

As your USB cord is connected with the computer and MP3 player, your computer should be able to automatically detect the connection, and open up options to the player. Some computers are set to not automatically detect, so you will need to go to "My Computer", and find the player's folder under your removable devices. In some instances, you will need to manually click the "USB Connect" option from your player.

Assuming that you already have songs in your computer, you will need to open the folder where your songs are stored. There are many ways to copy the songs over to the device's folder. One is to drag the songs you want into the folder using the mouse. Another alternative is to already readily put your selected songs into a new folder, where you can select all of the songs there (command: Ctrl + A), click copy (command: Ctrl + C), and then paste them (command: Ctrl + V) into the device's folder. Make sure you wait until the dialog box indicates that the files have been successfully transferred completely.

Lastly, close all the opened folders. You will need to disconnect the connection by clicking the removable devices button on your taskbar, and clicking Disconnect for the player. Once that is done, remove the USB cord from both the computer and the player. You will be able to find the songs in your player.

So if next time someone asks you, "How do I put songs on my MP3 player?" you will not be stumped at all.
