Over the past few years, the number of international students in the United States has increased. In fact, the United States has the largest population of international students in the entire world.

The US is one of the prime destinations for students who wish to reap the benefits of the top class education provided in US universities. The US universities are globally recognized for their excellence, diversity, modern facilities and the quality of teachers.

Students who wish to apply should have a minimum undergraduate GPA (Grade Point Average) of 3.0. Almost all of the graduate schools require TOEFL, which tests your proficiency in the English Language. Several universities also require GRE / GMAT, which tests your knowledge of high-school level math, verbal reasoning, and analytical writing ability, among others. Note that the test format of GRE and GMAT is different. Visit ets.org and mba.com for official and latest information on TOEFL and GRE and GMAT respectively.

Education cost

Education in the US is expensive for both US and international students. Paying for four years of college puts huge amount of financial pressure on international students. As for international students there is less financial assistance available, compared the US students. International students have to think of cutting cost of education:
International Students have to look for the public institutions because public institutions that treat residents and non residents as same and One needs time to adapt oneself to the environment. After adapting to the college environment, leaving off the campus can help international students cut costs. Sharing an apartment with roommate too can reduce costs.

Study Abroad Scholarships

A work study program is always a good option for any student. It is a way to help and fund your own education and will also give you a little bit of spending money in the process.
Finding scholarships is not that difficult. Usually, you can just visit the study abroad office at your educational institution or even the financial services office and they will have a large directory of available scholarships.

If your school does not have these offices, you can just quickly have a look on the Internet and find a wide variety of scholarships you might qualify for.

How to Apply

The application process for each scholarship usually varies. Each scholarship will have a different process that you need to go through before you are considered for the scholarship. Usually, the process includes submitting a transcript, an essay, and sometimes an interview.

Usually, you will have to submit your academic transcript. You need to submit this so the administrators of the scholarship know that you take your academic studies seriously and will take full advantage of the opportunity. Usually, scholarships will publish a minimum GPA that you need to have to be considered for the scholarship.

Next you usually need to write an essay. This could be on a wide variety of subjects, but they usually focus on something related to "why should you get this scholarship". This is basically another tool for the scholarship administrators to determine how much you want the scholarship and how good of a candidate you would be,

After you have submitted your transcript and have written an essay, the final few applicants may be asked in for an interview. This is just one last opportunity for the scholarship administrators to learn about you and why you would be a good recipient of the scholarship.

If you satisfy all these requirements, there is a good chance you will get a scholarship.
