Does autoresponder ring a bell? I'm sure it does to all internet users, especially those who have email accounts. But, what it is really and how it works is what you are going to learn from this article.

An autoresponder, sometimes called auto email, email responder or mailbot, is an excellent promotional tool. It is used to help you save a lot of time in replying to all the messages you receive with an automatic response. However, it varies from messages that are sent through email to scripts, which are programmed to run on servers.

Actually, all types of autoresponders have the same function and that is to send out a reply automatically whenever a message is received. Depending on the message, though, an autoresponder sends out a correct reply message, which can be determined by the script or the email address.

Despite the fact that autoresponders are considered excellent for promotional purposes, unfortunately, they are also extensively abused all over the internet. Autoresponders are convenient to use on a day to day basis since they do the work for you. But, they can also be a pain in the neck to those who might come across with them.

It is important to note that when you submit your website to any directories or search engines, do not use an address with an autoresponder. Otherwise, it's going to be a disaster for both of you and the directory or search engine. Why? It is because most of these types of websites are usually using autoresponders themselves as they send out their messages. Therefore, if their autoresponder sends out a message to your own autoresponder, they will keep on responding to one another continually. Now, isn't that a disaster?

Using a valid email address in subscribing to an email or any subscription for that matter may turn out to be beneficial. The worse that can happen if you used an autoresponder when subscribing is that your subscription may get revoked. It's going to be very irritating if certain group sends out emails only to find out your autoresponder keeps on sending return messages. That is why it is not a good idea to use an autoresponder address for any subscription you want to make.

Yes, autorespondes can be of great help if used wisely. However, it can cause catastrophes as well. In most cases, it can be difficult for subscription groups to trace someone who is using an autoresponder. Usually, those who use an autoresponder have different reply or from address they used when they first sign up, which makes it very time consuming to trace the address.

An autoresponder can do a whole lot of good to you or your business if used responsibly. It is easy to set up and user-friendly, not to mention its reasonable price. All it gives is convenience on your part, so don't use it to hassle other people or subscription groups.
