Why Should You Attend Lacrosse Recruiting Camps?

 By: Anne Harvester
High school students who play lacrosse and are seeking a sports scholarship to the college of their choice would be well advised to attend several lacrosse recruiting camps throughout their high school years. Lacrosse recruiting camps are a great way to get seen by college lacrosse recruiting scouts, and they give you an opportunity to explore your potential new college home before making any commitments.

Lacrosse recruiting scouts from many colleges and universities attend lacrosse recruiting camps. By searching the college website for the lacrosse department, you can discover which coaches and lacrosse recruiting scouts will be attending which lacrosse recruiting camps, and thus make sure that you participate at the ones with scouts from the colleges where you wish to attend.

You will have the opportunity at lacrosse recruiting camps to play full games in front of the coaching staff from several colleges, and this will give you a great chance to show them how you play and what you can do not only for the immediate needs of your high school teammates but also what you could bring to their college teams.

Coaches will also be observing how well you interact and get along with other team members, and how you handle the stress of a game situation. Everyone wants to work with someone who is easy to get along with, so you will want to show the lacrosse recruiting coaches that you are that person.

In addition to the fun of playing games, you will also be able to attend special training events at lacrosse recruiting camps. This gives you a great chance to see how the coaches work with students, and you will begin to make your initial impression of if you will grow as a player under their tutelage. It also shows college lacrosse recruiting staff how quickly you pick up new ideas and how you interact with the coaches and take instruction from them.
Another advantage that comes from attending a camp is that in between lacrosse recruiting events you might be able to catch the college team playing a game or practicing. You can explore how they play together, and what you could bring to the team as its newest member.

Camps held in conjunction with college lacrosse recruiting events also let you stay on campus, eat the food, and see for yourself what living on campus is like. There are many college lacrosse recruiting events scheduled each year, so be sure to take part in as many as you can.

It was a clear, warm summer afternoon on Lake Chaubunagungamaug in Webster, Massachusetts. We were anchored in a quiet cove, playing a lively game of cribbage when I spotted a pair of eagles soaring high above us. It was as if they were playing a game of tag. Then suddenly one of the eagles headed straight down into the water and came back up with a big fish in its beak. He flew to a tall bushy pine tree nearby to enjoy his fresh catch.
Families today are all electronically connected. Facebook, Twitter and texting are the norm today. When I grew up such things were not available to us and many of us have “Happy Memories” of an earlier day. The younger generation today is losing its ability to create "Happy Memories" and I feel for them. Most of the younger generation have not had the chance to see the sun rise over a low hanging fog on a beautiful lake.
Summer time is here, let's enjoy all the activities that goes along with that and avoid pesky insects through prevention/treatment. The four ‘B’s of Summer; BBQ, Baseball, Beaches and Bugs! Like many of you, I have my favorite BBQ meal (Ribs) and favorite Baseball team (Tampa Bay Rays) and of course my favorite beaches (St. Petersburg-Belleair); but who has a favorite bug?
