Bird flu prevention is probably at the top of most people's minds right now, thanks to the ongoing news reports about bird flu spreading to humans in Asia. The good news is, at the moment, there's little danger of bird flu becoming a pandemic in America because the virus only spreads from bird-to-bird and from bird-to-human. But viruses have a bad habit of mutating, and in the event that it does mutate and begin to spread human-to-human, what bird flu prevention methods will be best?

Those who have been following the news of the world have invariably heard of the recent bird flu panic. This very dangerous strain of the flu has claimed quite a number of lives in the world and has literally terrified the populace of many countries. Despite the danger of this particular flu strain, many people truly do not know what the bird flu actually is.

All this talk to bird flu has really thrown us all into a tizzy these days but is it something that we really need to be so concerned about? Well, this really depends on who you ask. Although no one can predict with certainty the timing and virus strain of the next pandemic, the risk of an influenza pandemic is serious. Preventing dehydration ranks highest of all treatments for influenza.

Well,... no not as such, but drive thru's may be set up in VA hospitals in America as a suggestion by the government as a quick way of testing people who suspect they may have the bird flu.(This drive thru technique was used last year for a vaccine program in the U.S .)

The bird flu though not an epidemic for humans yet, but for some species of birds, it is probably the worst thing that can happen. The effect is so potent that a mortality rate of 100 per cent has been recorded, with the infected birds dying in less than 48 hours.

Recently, Utah's epidemiologist, Dr. Robert Rolfs, injected his entire state with a heavy dose of complacency and told them not to worry about bird flu. He said, "Avian influenza means bird influenza. It's a problem for birds right now in other parts of the world, and it is a problem for birds there." He was persuading KSL-TV reporter Shelley Osterloh that there was nothing to worry about in Utah.

To combat a possible avian bird flu epidemic, the following should be considered and done. The single most important thing than can be done for an epidemic, such as avian bird flu, is to have well-prepared local health care systems. People should be prepared in ways that are sustainable and will remain useful even if the epidemic does not occur.

What exactly do we have against the Bird Flu virus if it does materialize into a sudden threat? The governments of some countries have been claiming that they are stockpiling vaccines already. However how can that be possible when the vaccine we so dearly need is still under development.
