Prior to the merger, NFL and AFL leagues were two bitter rivals. There was a need to unit all fans and club sides from both leagues, hence the landmark agreement that cemented and brought about the Super Bowl. Super Bowl Sunday is that day of the year in which winners from both leagues (NFL and AFL) come together to determine who is the champion of the world. The winning team gets the Vince Lombardi Trophy --posthumously named after the coach of the Green Bay Packers that won the first two Super Bowl games. Vinci Lombardi died in September 1970.

Anyone up for a little sports trivia quiz? One of my favorite traditions is to watch the Rose Bowl football game. The Super Bowl is terrific, but I just don't think you can beat good old college football and my favorite game of all is the Rose Bowl. Looks like the Oregon Ducks might just be there this year. Go Ducks!

In all of my research, over a period of several years, the finest information I have ever read on quarterback leadership came from my friend Frank Carideo. The purpose of this information was to outline the process by which a quarterback was trained at Notre Dame, under coach Knute Rockne. This course of quarterbacking was as exacting in many respects as any collegiate course.

Match between Chelsea and Watford ended with victory of Stamford bridge side and Roman Abramovich is happy with his team as he walk away with smiling face. West ham and Middlesborough drew 1-1 with disappointment of victory less draws of sheff united vs. hull city and Blackburn vs. Coventry. Shabby Singh a senior analyzer expected more from these fifth round matches.

The three lions which adorn the England football shirt have long presented a mystery as to their origin. Historians believe the three lions came into existence around the turn of the twelfth century when Richard I "the Lionheart" came to the throne. When Richard I came to power his personal coat of arms was installed as the official Royal Coat of Arms of England, remaining so for the next 140 years.

Due to the quirks in the draw for the FA Cup, Liverpool were scheduled to play against Everton twice in a span of a week. The first match was an English Premier League clash while the second match was an FA Cup tie. After watching both matches, my sympathy goes out to Rafael Benitez.

Among the football games that I watched last Saturday in the English Premier League, the Chelsea versus Stoke match provided the most dramatic finish. And here I go again with my daily dose of analysis of the match which at the end of the day, makes me scratch my head and think about why the Blues did not show this spirited display of effort when they clashed with Manchester United two Saturdays ago?

I have been following the Champion's League quite closely since it started in December being an ardent fan of football. One thing I have derived from the performance of the various teams is that although Martin O'Neill's team may yet be far from achieving the title yet it won't come as a surprise to me if they finished somewhere in the top 4 this season.
