Parrots are popular pets for many reasons, one of which includes their beautiful plumage, which brightens the home and will often gain the interest of visitors and guests. Yet sometimes caged parrots will pluck their own plumage. I'll discuss a couple of causes and how you can prevent this from affecting your pet parrot.

Parrots need daily contact with their owners. - Some kinds need more care and attention than others. Cockatoo, Lorry and Jacob need special care every day. Amazons, Budgie, Conures small Africans parrots need also (though not that much) their owners' daily attention for keeping up their spiritual tone and socializing.

Parrots are wonderful pets. You will quickly find that these birds extremely smart and their ability to learn make them fun to train. Keep in mind that any animal that shows signs of high intelligence can easily get bored, so your job is to train your pet parrot and spend the time it takes to make your bird into a wonderful pet. It takes time and patience to train a parrot, but with the proper training, your parrot will provide you with many years of friendship.

The strident cries of a pair of parrots grew louder through the heavy afternoon mist that fell over the Antioquia mountains. A group of twelve persons including researchers, students and curious people like me waited the arrival of eighty of one of the most endangered birds in the world to their roosting site. Between the surprise and deception of the onlookers (in my case emotion for seeing this bird for the first time) only a couple of Yellow-eared parrots appeared through the fog.

The Congo and the Timneh are the two main sub-species of the African Grey parrot. The Congo is a bigger bird with a lighter colour with a dark beak and a red tail. On average they weigh around 400 to 650 grams and are about 12 to 14 inches long from tail to beak.
Parrots' behavior is commonly misunderstood by people who have them as pets. Parrots have a complex behavior which is a little harder to manage by a person, not as the case of a dog for instance. Parrots are intelligent, beautiful and entertaining birds.
The grey parrots may have many behavioral problems and most of them are caused by the human's lack of understanding that it is first of all a prey bird and has little to do with a life in captivity. Many people fail to understand that and won't allow that bird to manifest like a bird.
Most often, birds like the taste of grains which are a good combination of nutrients: complex carbohydrates, proteins, minerals and vitamins; providing them a healthy food. The great variety of grains found on the market gives also different nutritive values for the birds.
Parrots are birds with gaily and boldly colors. Parrots have even, thin plumage on their whole bodies with solid color spots, which usually contrast themselves.
Usually, a bird's gender is unknown to other species of beings; it is a well kept secret for the bird itself and its kind. When nature created the birds, it never took into consideration the human specie and the knowledge that this last one needs.
